from the series: another winter will come

Taken in the Wide Bay - Fraser Island coast area, where they do not appear to be uncommon.

I wasn't sure about posting the shots I took here. Firstly, it has been done so many times and much better by so many others. Secondly, the wind was so strong on the morning I visited, there was a lot of movement in the foliage giving a blurry effect in the autumnal shades at the top of the frame.

In the end, I decided to post a couple as I was unlikely to ever get there again! So here is a square of the distinctive Beech Trees at Upper Moor, contrasting starkly with the columnar straightness of the opposing stands of Pine trees.

The main square of Beauvais. I think it was the fifth floor we were on? Certainly more than three floors up. The view from our hotel room.

The square, named Place Jeanne Hachette, contains many shops, the Mairie and a statue of Jeanne Laisné. She goes down in folklore as a courageous woman during the siege of 1472, when the Burgundians were planning to take unfortified Beauvais from King Louis XI, she galvanised the Beauvaisians to defend their city and repel the invaders (which they did) by forcing off a Burgundian soldier from the city perimeter and removing the standard the soldier had planted, all whilst wielding an axe.

In recompense, the King awarded the townsfolk as exempt from taxes for ten years, and Jeanne's family exempt for life.

No. It was raining! :D

Another pleasure i exercised on my day off today was daisies. They are always up for a picture. Is there anything quite as cheery as a daisy!

abstract digital art

This was created on the Deep Dream Generator website using two of my abstract images.

The base image was an abstract I created with Photoshop and Topaz, with various squares in mostly red, yellow, green, and black.

I created the style image in Uzu, then Percolator, both iPad apps. The style image created most of the image's texture.

After downloading my DDG image, I cloned parts of it in Photoshop to balance the colors and composition and added a thin border in lighter tones.
