Bruges, the capital of West Flanders, Belgium, is one of the most historic and beautiful cities in Western Europe. The square was first used as a marketplace in 958 and today is dominated by the historic Belfry 1240 (out of view in the other direction) and more contemporary architecture. The statue celebrates two freedom heroes in the struggle against the French at the beginning of the 14th Century.
Day One in Moscow and I was ready to hit Red Square and all the tourist hot spots. Access to Red Square was closed for a military graduation ceremony. There were other places to go and other things to see, but this day on our itinerary was Red Square day.
Late in the afternoon, and with rain threatening, they finally reopened the Square. By the time we got in, the place was packed with people, lining up any shot was a challenge, while composition was a near impossibility. I took a lot of shots; this one is probably the best of the day. It rained, but my spirits were never dampened.

Krzywiń is a small town in the province Greater Poland, with approximately 1,700 inhabitants. It was a private clergy town belonging to the Benedictine abbot in Lubin. The first preserved mention of Krzywiń as a town comes from 1272. In 1382, the city was destroyed during domestic fights, the reconstruction took place half a century later. In 1447, the location privilege was renewed. The center of the development was a Market Square with a town hall (the present one comes from 1905) in the south-eastern frontage. In the middle of the Market Square there is a statue of St. Wawrzyniec street and the frontages are built with houses from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The market was revitalized in 2014 and is a major tourist attraction.

Dundas Square is Toronto's answer to Times Square with many advertising billboards. It is also site for outdoor concerts and festivals. It was a place for protests and demonstrations, until the authorities decided that in the name of Democracy, protests are only permitted for approved causes and for freedoms in countries far away. I was crossing the square, when the billboard above flooded the place with colour on otherwise grey drizzly day. The square was not always there. It opened in 2002 in effort to revitalize the area. To be honest, I should, but do not remember what was there before.

The school was first... 1878, the church was next 1907).
This is one of several churches in my village... there is a Church of England church in its own grounds.... this is the Methodist church... the building is shared by the Salvation Army... they work together... up the road there is a church whose meetings are held in the YMCA building...
In my view (purely a personal view)... On Portland, as our faith fails and changes, the churches come together. They are part of the community that already exists and central to my mother's generation.... the churches grow by focussing on the needs of the people regardless of faith.... I do not know whether their numbers grow... but they are part of our community first...
