A common Blue in the cornfield

Not many insects...especially butterflies - around today but I spotted this really shiny bug....he is the size of a ladybird and a dark metallic blue and his wings are red - I have tried but no idea what he is....anyone??

Seemed to be picking out bugs from the bark.

Seen on a walk around Semerwater, second largest natural lake in North Yorkshire, England after Malham Tarn.

Went up this morning before work as the light was a little better and managed to get some better shots; it's forecast for rain again for the next 2 days but will go up again at the weekend - I think they've only been hatched a week or so but will monitor it mud permitting (the field is a swamp at the moment) to hopefully see the little'uns!

Then on 21st May we saw the Tawny owl chick in the evening, the female owl mum was still in attendance in a nearby tree and vocal.
