Spring Vale Park quite often cropped up during my lunchtime wanderings over the years, including a visit in October 2009 when the park noticeboard again caught my eye for a photograph.
At some point, the entryway was altered on the front of the building. Entryway is now via the sides of the building. A view of the unaltered building is on the historic sign which appears in this series of pictures taken on even date.
This is one of the few early residences in Millis. It is a good example of Georgian architecture; typical two story side gabled roof. The entrance door and bracketed crown are Victorian additions and old windows, have been replaced.
The grist mill in Medfield had burned and another site was being sought. This house was built around 1740. This site was chosen because of the proximity to the Charles River. The house was built for a daughter of the Barber family. This daughter married Asa Richardson, and the house since has been occupied by six generations of the Richardson family.. A grist mill stone is now a step into the entrance of this house.
