My backyard was full of surprise this past April! Even with all the strange weather we had these hardy daffodils just kept blooming! I love springtime flowers.
Driving home in the rain. On the radio they say that the temperatures are now as low as they were in the month of November.
A storm blew through leaving a trail of devastation across the state of Iowa. We were fortunate with only rain and high winds. My Irises took a beating, lost some, trampled down a few that I cut and brought inside, closed up a few but opened a few more! I find beauty in all the stages that a flower takes from bud, to flower, back to bud, to dying. Behold life and death in a cycle thru Mother Nature. Huge thanks to Hank for inspiring me to grab my Olympus Zuiko Digital 8mm fisheye for some tulip images. Though it's nowhere as cool as his shot that provided this springtime inspiration, I still think this curving world of tulips is a pretty amazing place to be. Tulip Town, Mount Vernon, WA. I will soon be moving from Maryland, back to my home state of Pennsylvania. How can I resist posting a few last shots of the wild horses who live on Assateague Island?
Janice and I were admiring the colors in the tail of this horse as it grazed.
The historic & iconic Reptile House at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens during the annual tulip display.
Many times the key factor of a great photograph comes from it having strong composition. Yes, the story is important but, without strong composition the story gets lost I think.
The inspiration for it came to me when I was out for a walk with my wife and dog, and saw this out from the corner of my eye. The story here is that I love how this moment says new life that brings hope. The colors are catchy and a favorite of many.
I used negative space composition, which is a basic, but often overlooked principle of design, that gives the eye a "place to rest," increasing the appeal through subtle means. This together with the square format, makes this suitable for framing with a wider matboard.
This image is a part of my Phoneography Project that you may know I've been doing to produce images that have been put through its paces by a forty-year professional lensmen.
I made this with an iPhone 5s, with the Flcikr App camera, and processed also with the Flickr App.
