The garden is located opposite one of London's top tourist attractions The Tower of London. It is an attractive green space with stunning views, lawns, trees, children's play equipment and seating. Perfect for families looking for a place in the Square Mile to relax and enjoy and for children to play.

Last summer, I divided my Iris. When you divide them, you lift a clump and break the new side rhizomes away from the old main one, replant the smaller ones and discard the old centers. So imagine my surprise to see these Iris growing in our compost pile from the old centers. I guess there was life in them after all!!!

It will be interesting to see if they bloom there!

Hummingbirds are notoriously antisocial and here two are arguing over the feeder.

On my first day sitting in a blind near the Peregrine eyrie (and every time after) I was constantly terrified that I would cause a disruption. Peregrines are very sensitive near their young and will spend all of their energy trying to drive away a perceived threat. Therefore I had to be extremely cautious to avoid preventing them from tending to their nestlings. Dressed in camouflage from head to toe and draped in my camo fabric that I used as a blind, I slowly eased down the slope onto a ledge. There was a large tree to my right keeping me from getting too close to the edge and that provided additional cover. Once settled on the ledge I waited to see how the falcon would react. As I watched she preened and walked over to the cave to check in on her young that were out of my sight. Then she flew up to this ledge and fanned her feathers in the sun. All of these behaviors are very natural for a Peregrine who is comfortable and not stressed. She had not detected my presence. My feat had been a success! May 25, 2016
