Just returned from a visit to the Maasai Mara where I had the privilege to photograph Tira the rare spotted Zebra foal.He was named Tira after the guide who originally found him( Anthony Tira). This is a very rare occurrence and is the first recorded in the Mara.As I left there are reports that Tira has gone missing with speculation around the manner of his disappearance.

This spotted towhee was calling me over, then wouldn't even look at me - so stand-offish! Still, I liked the pose, so I took the shot!
I found my first salamander of the season yesterday with this Spotted found under a log. I placed him in some moss for a more appealing setting. Also he was put back under his log after the photo session. I went back again this afternoon and he was still under the same log. I just let him be this time though.
I hope everyone enjoys this image!

Dactylorhiza fuchsii is also known by the name common spotted orchid. It is a tuberous perennial with thick underground storage organs for holding water. Foliage is green, speckled with purple and leaves produced higher on the stem tend to be smaller than those produced lower down. Typically this species flowers at a height of around 60cm, producing approximately 25-50 purple, pink or white flowers on a central flowering spike. These are symmetrical down the centre and attractively patterned with darker markings on the petals.
Wikipedia: The spotted owlet (Athene brama) is a small owl which breeds in tropical Asia from mainland India to Southeast Asia. A common resident of open habitats including farmland and human habitation, it has adapted to living in cities. They roost in small groups in the hollows of trees or in cavities in rocks or buildings. It nests in a hole in a tree or building, laying 3–5 eggs. They are often found near human habitation. The species shows great variation including clinal variation in size and forms a superspecies with the very similar little owl.

The spotted garden eel (Heteroconger hassi) is a small fish that can reach a maximum length of 40 centimetres (16 in; 1.3 ft). Its body is anguiform (eel-like): long, thin, with a circular cross-section (14 millimetres (0.55 in) in average diameter) and a head of the same diameter as the body. The head appears shortened because the large mouth is close to the also large eyes. Nostrils are small and positioned in the center of the upper lip.
The body is white and covered with many small black spots. The spotted garden eel has three larger distinctive black spots; the first identifies the gills opening and the position of the tiny pectoral fins, the second is located in the central part of the body and the third one surrounds the anus. Juveniles have a very thin black body. Romblon Philippines.
I suppose this wild orchid gets its name from its spotted leaves, which you can see quite well in this photo.
