A new post with simple strobist info of a shoot I recently did. Edited with #VSCO film pk2 nickkarlin.blogspot.com/2013/01/spooner.html
Finished this last night - first attempt at a cooking spoon. O-l-d maple (sold to me as "painted" maple in Texas almost 30 years ago), finished in turquoise RMP and tung oil. The maple carved nicely, but very slowly. Required *sharp* tools - lots of stropping. Hopefully something we can actually use. But I think I'm ready for green wood. Hoping to split out some of the holly I grabbed last weekend.

I found a set of plastic forks & spoons that comes in this nifty holder...the best part is it's food safe plastic! I've been hunting for some sort of holder for my kid's stainless steel lunch utensils, and this one will work. I'll just switch out the plastic utensils for my metal ones. The plastic utensils are not going to waste either. We've already used them once on a picnic with the fam. Waaaay better than your typical white unsafe plastic forks & spoons. At the end of the day, I can wash these utensil holders along with everything else. No more Ziplock bags!
