The pitcher plant is carnivorous. Insects are trapped and

fall into a pool of liquid at the bottom of the "pitcher." Enzymes and bacteria help decompose the insects. Minerals and nutrients from the decomposed prey are then absorbed by the pitcher plants.

An N.C. State Grad student made this car out of and all wood weave for his Graduate Degree project it is utterly amazing what we can do when we put our minds to it.

I kept struggling to get a really good shot of the critical moment but they are sadly all a bit blurry. After a while I also decided to just watch the joust rather than try and photograph it.

St. Olaf wind turbine. Four exposures layered on top of each other with successively smaller crops centered on the turbine's center, resulting in the appearance of broken blades.
