1.9 oz of Coopworth wool in natural shades, spun and plied by me on a drop spindle in my first spinning class (June 2008).
wheel thrown spindle whorl. mounted as top whorl with disposable bamboo chopstick shaft. length from hook to end of shaft is approximately 9 inches (23cm)
My millefiore yarn as it sits, freshly plied, on my beautiful Lars Larson spindle with another skein of the same lot that has already been washed.
Combination of fleece and Indian raw cotton, dyed with left-over dye from an Indian dress when washed. Spinning on my Golding..
i dyed this fibre at a workshop, and don't have much of it, so i decided to spin it on my spindle. It's 70/30 merino/bamboo. Very nice blend.
One of the most unusual poisonous Autumn berries is the berry of the Spindle shrub (Euonymus europaeus). ... The berries contain toxic cardiac glycosides and alkaoloids. Children are attracted to the bright orange fruits, which contain toxic seeds.

the bag is a felt purse that I never finished. finally sewed a little button on it yesterday and blanketstitched around the buttonhole with light green silk. I don't think this will be a purse. I'll probably embroider something on it, cut a hole in the top and hang it on the wall as a spindle container.
We went to an open day at Thames Chase Forest Centre and wandered around for a walk.
I haven't managed to capture the beauty of this tree. It was such a lovely wash of colour!
Can anyone identify it for me?
