Blood drops. Spindle tree

Spindle (Euonymus europaeus) is a deciduous native tree. Mature trees grow to 9m and can live for more than 100 years. The bark and twigs are deep green, becoming darker with age, and have light brown, corky markings. The spindle is at its loveliest in autumn when its leaves turn russet and its pink and orange fruits ripen.

I took the previous photo into the iColorama app and this is what happened. Don’t ask me how!

A Victorian in Berkeley/CA.

Morning.

For scale, these berries are small than a 5p or 5c coin.

Owoce trzmieliny zwyczajnej (Euonymus europaeaus) – otwarte po pełnym dojrzaniu.

There are quite a few of these in the hedges close to my house. It is this time of year that you really notice them with their amazing coloured fruit.

Euonymus europaeus.

..very poison. Lovely in oktober with gorgeous fall foliage. When the fruits are ripe the orange colores fruits fall to the ground which are then eaten by birds.

ODC - Saving for Later: Yarn spun onto spindles and ready for plying at some point, then knitting into a sweater. Going to take quite some time.

Shooting in the badlands of Utah with my good friend Royce Bair. Royce and I discussed a name for this image while shooting. Royce had the idea of Sleeping Beauty Spindle. I took it from there and decided I liked Spindle of Destiny.

starts to drop its orange seeds, then you know that autumn is on the way.

The mystic Spindle tree to me is another of Autumns gems. The leaves alone turn a fabulous deep red and dark purple but ontop of this the fabous seed pods, bright pink with flourescent orange berries are just sublime. Euonymus Europeans or the wild Spindle Tree

Finding it difficult to find the time to post at the moment. Thanks for staicking around.

Growing wild in a hedge at Cosmeston Lake, Penarth South Wales

A single little clump of berries on a Spindle Tree (Euonymus europaeus - European Spindle Tree) I found whilst tramping around the woods last week.

Looks nice on black - click on the image, or press 'L' on your keyboard.

Hmm.

I have been saying "... if you think about it" a lot lately, by the way.
