Self portrait with window light.

I am very excited as today I found out I'll be taking pics at the Hanoi Rocks gig in March. It will be my first time shooting a gig [unless I do one before then] so I'm happy about that!

"Navigate History!

The Mattapoisett Museum is dedicated to the preservation of significant artifacts from Mattapoisett’s past which demonstrate the life and culture of this old New England town.

We are housed in a charming 1821 Meeting House with an attached replica of a 200 year old carriage house. The ancient pews, graceful galleries, and post and beam construction in the carriage house carry one back to when life revolved around daily work, church, town meeting and the waterfront.

Come visit us and let life in historic Mattapoisett come alive for you!"

Wool Spinning demonstration.

The earliest clear illustrations of the spinning wheel come from Baghdad (drawn in 1234),[3] China (c. 1270) and Europe (c. 1280), and there is evidence that spinning wheels had already come into use in both China and the Islamic world during the eleventh century.

The next day, Anastasia works on spinning her wool roving into yarn. Her cats love to watch the wheel spin and tug on the yarn and wool fibers. They are a bit of a nuisance when she is spinning, but they are good company.

This was inspired by the Blythe a Day prompt "kitten." I found this spinning wheel at a flea market in the spring - so thrilled to find one in this scale. I took these photos before the barn scene and then back filled the story with her shearing the sheep for the Blythe a Day prompt, "red." I know the yarn is not on the wheel right, but imagine it is :)

A monk spins a prayer wheel at a dzong in Bnutan. These large prayer wheels are often located at the entrance to a dzong and are spun by the faithful in a clockwise direction as they enter the inner courtyard of the monastery. Prayers wheels are a sacred symbol of devotion in Tibetan Buddhism (the type practiced in Bhutan), and worshippers turn prayer wheels to accumulate merit.

Spin Khwar is a beautiful lake hidden in the lap of mountains towards the north of Kundol Lake and east of Utror valley. The name Spin Khwar has a clear significance as a small white stream in the east flows down to the lake from the surrounding mountains and is a major source of water for the lake.

We reached spin-khwar lake from kundol lake side which is short but very dangerous & steep trek.

Right round.

The weather guy in me makes this one of my favorite scenes from my Teton visit. Low pressure in Idaho is spinning towards Wyoming and the flow created these neat high-based clouds that looked like spokes centered over the range. The sun is struggling to get through it.

As I wildlife photographer based in Somerset, the recent cold snap and snow was a welcome opportunity to observe the wildlife in very different circumstances. However, while walking along the River Isle on Friday 2th March 2018 near my home, I came across the most unusual sight of a slowing spinning Ice circle in the middle of the river. Anything in a river is normally swept downstream with the natural flow but this was so different in that it was slowly spinning round and round without moving. Almost mesmerising and fascinating to watch on a bitterly cold morning. Probably formed by a combination of water flow & eddy currents and the build up of ice from the banks.

Spinning Ice Circles are normally found in the cold climates, of North America and Northern Europe, so to find one in Somerset is a bit unusual if not unique. But that is a good indicator of just how harsh the recent cold weather really was. They have been seen up to 50ft but the River Isle is somewhat smaller and I guess that this one was a 6-8ft.

I will post a video soon.

And spin!

The theme of this highly charged drawing is the mythic concept of life, growth, and evolution. The image is comprised of a multitude of intricate eyes drawn in black ink, surrounded by colorful explosions resembling festive floral mandalas. This drawing is incredibly detailed; you can see close-ups in my photostream, and view a larger image of this one by clicking on "all sizes" above. This piece is a fusion of my intensely-detailed black ink drawings and my equally-detailed colorful abstract work. The two come together in a rich marriage of style and energy. My abstract artwork is very process-oriented and carries a spiritual meaning related to the mystery of existence and a reverence for the unfolding process of life. The designs in this drawing arose spontaneously in a stream-of-consciousness manner. While working on drawings that are this detailed, I become so immersed in the work that drawing the images becomes a meditative process through which I strive to achieve balance amidst chaos (similar to the concept of mushin). The colors and designs arise spontaneously and reflect my interest in tribal and aboriginal art, specifically in the act of storytelling through nonrepresentational means. My abstract art is also heavily inspired by my world travels, particularly my visits to remote tribal villages in the Kutch region of India, as well as my visits to temples and roadside shrines in Sri Lanka, India, and Nepal. This image is bright, psychedelic, and incredibly detailed!

An old craft, very zen, tried it!

Not something you see often these days?

Louet wheels treadle lightly, are low maintenance and nearly adjustment free and can be modified with accessories for the expert spinner.

Louet wheels were originally geared towards spinning medium to heavy yarns.

Although bobbins and flyers are available for spinning this type of yarn, the standard wheels have been redesigned to be more suitable for spinning fine to medium yarns.

This type of wheel is powered by the spinner's foot rather than their hand or a motor.

The spinner sits and pumps a foot treadle that turns the drive wheel via a crankshaft and a connecting rod.

This leaves both hands free for drafting the fibres, which is necessary in the short draw spinning technique, which is often used on this type of wheel.

Take care, be safe!

Thank you, M, (*_*)

Firstgroup withdrew their 965 service in Otley during October and two companies now ply the route in competition, spinning round the estates every half hour. Having operated the Wharfedale routes with 13 year old darts in their existing livery, KBC suddenly sent one for repaint in October and it was to be dedicated bus on the route with competition...

A pleasant livery ( albeit spoilt by the trees on the rear side which are too dark in my opinion ), and how they all should have looked from day one.

I got hosed with my shot at Rock Creek Jct., but I was able to beat it back to downtown KC and shoot it a bit, so that's good. After turning itself on the wye at BN Jct., the 4611 pulls back north/east into Union Station, positioned for Wednesday's trip east.
