Description: This has been one of my most anticipated projects of the year: especially considering the fact it has taken me most of 2022 to complete it. The original design was created back in November of 2021, but production didn't begin until May 4th of 2022 after some more refinement in the original design making it more practical. Most of this build is made out of reclaimed materials from nearby scrapyards, railroads and from previous house repairs. The blade was sculpted from a large truck leaf spring, the guard was from a old railroad track clip, the copper collar was from some copper pipe under my house, but the scales and the copper pin had to be bought online.

The Crypt bowie has definitely been my most difficult to make knives in all my life mainly for three reason: one, the blade will be the biggest I have ever worked on. Two, the blade is a encapsulated tang, which I'm not good at. Three, this blade would require a lot of measuring and precise calculation for the guard and the handle to line up without a seam. But in all this has been a fun project, there was definitely a lot of learning I had to do and plenty of patience that was required for every step.

This is my first large-scale humanoid mech, and it's different than most. That being said, I rather like it. Note that photographing/posing it was difficult due to its size and also due to the issue of balancing it and not having it fall down and break into a million pieces. Which happened more times than I can count on one hand. The design was slightly inspired by my favorite Transformer. Other than that, I just built it in the way that I saw fit, trying to keep it humanoid and with clean lines, and no gaps. The detail shots I took of the legs and arms came out fairly awful, and the build has since fallen over. I might rebuild it and add some more pictures later on. /rant

Z6

This is the remarkable Lynx D type which over thirty years ago set five National Endurance Speed Records on the banked test circuit at MIRA. Amazingly, these records still stand.

The all-Scots driving team included none other than Grand Prix legend Innes Ireland, Rally queen Louise Aitken-Walker and Hill Climb Champion Kenny Allen.

CKL are thrilled to offer 57 SAL, Lynx’s 17th D-type order and the legendary Lynx D-type which claimed those National Endurance Speed Records in 1987. The car is still in its record breaking specification and remains completely usable either on the road or track.

Original Lynx D-types are known to be the best in the world when it comes to representations of the Jaguar D-type, with accurately hand constructed panel work and authentically detailed interiors. The Lynx D-type, however, could be designed and styled to meet the both the needs of the driver and the different versions, whether this be for a short nose variant, with full-width screen and fitted with a 3.8 XK engine for example. Best of all, they are supremely usable.

57 SAL is an aluminium bodied ‘Long nose’ D-type, fitted with an uprated 4.2 engine which utilises D-type valves, cams and triple 45DCOE weber carburettors. Transmission is an all synchro 4 speed gearbox.

This car is beautifully patinated and remains in the Ecurie Ecosse blue livery in which it set the records. It has two-door bodywork, a blue leather interior and full-width screen.

With a long-standing history with Lynx and CKL, most of those familiar with 57 SAL would regard it as the most desirable Lynx D-type on the planet. It comes with a rich History file containing information, and correspondence about the record attempts. There are also photographs and video taken at the time.

UK Endurance Speed Records taken at MIRA:

• 100 Km 138.11 MPH

• 200 Km 136.28 MPH

• 50 Miles 137.75 MPH

• 100 Miles 135.89 MPH

• 200 Miles 131.98 MPH

• 200 Miles 132.91 MPH

• Speed in 1 hour 136.58 MPH

On Autotrader Car Check, this is down as purely an 'L', however the badges point to it being a GL. I've never paid much attention to the front end of a Riva before, but this one looks quite fancy with its inset fog lights, which perhaps points to the GL specification? There's a sunroof too.

Having operated over 100 Marshall Capital-bodied Dennis Darts that originated with the London fleets, First Cymru is now down to the final pair, having earlier this year withdrawn the last W-reg and X-reg examples that had been converted to PSVAR specification.

The two survivors (41489 & 41491) are 8.9m variants that transferred to South Wales in December 2009. The third member of the batch - 41490 - moved on First Bristol in 2014.

Both are based at Port Talbot depot, though they do sometimes appear at Maesteg sub-depot, usually on the services that specifically require shorter vehicles.

41491 was operating on Port Talbot depot's Service 86 (Neath-Baglan-Port Talbot) in this late October 2017 shot taken on Ffordd Baglan in the town.

Way back in 2009, trentbarton had a crack at rebranding their Calverton Connect route as a premium service. A batch of O530 Citaros was ordered with high specification interiors inculding air conditioning and leather seating. The service was then treated to a Best Impressions designed livery which ditched the previous bright red as worn by the outgoing Scania L94UBs for a more subdued charcoal with a subtle lime accent.

It certainly was a striking impression and combined with the pricey Citaros, achieved a luxury feel to the route however this was not to last...

Due to the fact that only one small batch of Citaros were ordered, maintaining these buses became more hassle than it was worth for trentbarton... So, the small fleet was despatched to sister company, Kinchbus in 2015. Ironically, some of the Scanias replaced by these Citaros returned to the Calverton Connection once more to fill the gap.

Kinchbus treated this batch to a full overhaul and repaint into their fleet livery and the Citaros were subsequentley deployed across their network. It made sense to have them within that company due to fleet standardisation as at the time, Kinch operated similar Citaro O295s on the Skylink.

In 2020, after withdrawal of the younger O295 Citaros, this oddball batch became the final Citaros in the Wellglade group. By 2022, some had recieved branding for service 9 although this wasn't to last... Poor reliability meant a lot of downtime for the ageing O530s and many were withdrawn during 2024.

This brings us to this photo which is quite possibly one of the last photos taken of a Wellglade Citaro. 906 was the last survivor and rather uncerimoniously saw out her final day of service on the 16/11/2024. Since then, the MOT has expired and I'm doubtful it will be renewed...

In truth, I was never too keen on Citaros although I will be sorry to see them go, as they provided that bit more variety to Nottingham's bus network...

Jaguar D-Type or Recreation to FIA/HTP Specification or......, difference £10 Million or £95k still looks the business...

The Jaguar D-Type is a sports racing car produced by Jaguar Cars Ltd. between 1954 and 1957. Although it shares the basic straight-6 XK engine and many of its mechanical components with the C-Type, its aviation industry influenced structure was radically different. Innovative monocoque construction and an aeronautical approach to aerodynamic efficiency brought aviation technology to competition car design

Engine displacement began at 3.4 litres, was enlarged to 3.8 L in 1957, and reduced to 3.0 L in 1958 when Le Mans rules limited engines for sports racing cars to that maximum. Jaguar D-Types won the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1955, 1956 and 1957. After Jaguar temporarily retired from racing as a factory team, the company offered the remaining unfinished D-Types as XKSS versions whose extra road-going equipment made them eligible for production sports car races in America. In 1957 25 of these cars were in various stages of completion when a factory fire destroyed nine of them.

Total D-Type production is thought to have included 18 factory team cars, 53 customer cars, and 16 XKSS versions.

Lady Godiva, limited edition Salvador Dalí sculpture.

Dalí, the great Surrealist master, selected the image of Lady Godiva as one of his favourites and pays homage to her sensuous and shapely female form through the conception of this sculpture. Announcing her arrival, butterflies not only hover around her and her noble steed, but also adorn her body as she plays her trumpet. Lady Godiva embodies earthly beauty, whereas the butterflies depict the ethereal otherworld.

Exterior architecture

The Landhaus (Regional Parliament) shows itself - although planned as a castle - today more like a palace due to its horseshoe-shaped floor plan. West and south sides of the building looks very impressive and closed, one of the originally two rustic portals on the west side was walled up. Through the only portal you now enter the Landhaushof (courtyard), which allows north and south side with wide stairs the climb to the arcade passage and the Grand Coat of Arms Hall. Especially here in the yard, as how often in Klagenfurt at the lake Wörthersee (eg at the Lindworm), chlorite schist stone from near Kreuzbergl can be found. The east side of the courtyard is open, the opposite building of the former Salt office now houses a hotel.

The castle-like building does not correspond to any classical rule of architecture: The portal is not centrally located on the west side as well as the entrance to the Arms Hall, the towers are designed differently, the arcades of the stairs "bump" on the tower walls. But this seems to be the special appeal of the building, which is why Wilhelm Pinder has called the Landhaus one of the proudest post-medieval urban buildings in the German-speaking world.

A curious detail in the Landhaus courtyard is a small stone staircase, which was originally used for easier mounting of horses and has been preserved to this day. In 1998, a controversial monument to the "site of the *) Carinthian unity" was built in the Landhaus courtyard. South of the Landhaus is located in the adjacent park a designed by Kiki Kogelnik fountain called The Song.

*) The Carinthian plebiscite (German: Kärntner Volksabstimmung, Slovene: Koroški plebiscit) was held on 10 October 1920 in the area predominantly settled by Carinthian Slovenes. It determined the final southern border between the Republic of Austria and the newly formed Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (later Yugoslavia) after World War I.

Baubeschreibung

A remarkable survivor based at Carlisle is 17692, one of 7 Presidents originally new to Cambus. The rest were all withdrawn in 2016 due to their lack of DDA compliance, but having had a Bridge deroofing incident in Bedford in 2014, 17692 moved up north for a new life. At Carlisle it was converted to an open topper and completely refurbished to the standard Stagecoach specification (flooring/seats etc), entering service in the green version of the Stagecoach livery for the 2015 season. Ready for the 2019 season, it gained a repaint over the winter in the Lakes Connection livery, and now lives in retirement on the 508 between Penrith and Patterdale. On June 15th, I managed to bag a ride on this beast on the full route, as I had always dreamed to do so! The only other Presidents surviving with Stagecoach are the batch new to Manchester in 2003/4 now spread amongst the East Midlands depots, a few of which have moved to Rennies in Fife, along with a smaller batch new to Oxford for BrookesBus.
