This week's theme of the Smile on Saturday group is "Bangles". I had to dig deep in some boxes in the basement to find these sparkling bangles which were part of a fortune teller costume (don't ask ...). My first idea was to take a photo of the bangles with one of the cats but they all flatly refused. Therefore mousie had to volunteer. HSoS ! :)

Violet-capped Woodnymph - a hummingbird who inhabit a wide range of habitats from untouched forests, to scrub, to suburban and city gardens. They gather nectar from both native and non-native flowers and also hunt for insects. During certain parts of the year, Violet-capped Woodnymphs migrate short distances. Males have a bluish violet cap and sparkle with dark green above and gold-green below. Females are dark greenish above and off-white below. During the breeding season, these woodnymphs adorn the outside of their nests with ferns and lichen.

As I made my way on the trail to Sol Duc Falls, I could hear the roar of the water cascading downstream. I had seen many pictures of it but hardly any in the Autumn season. The yellows were as vibrant to my eyes as I had ever seen before. The rush of the water made all of the foliage move so frequently that I had such a hard time keeping the entire frame in focus. The people in on the top right of the image provided a nice sense of scale.
Sol Duc translates to the meaning of Sparkling Waters.
