NASA photographers captured the final landing of the space shuttle as it happened today and mankind turned the page on a remarkable story of exploration. As a former USAF pilot, I had the opportunity to train pilots that went into NASA and I flew rocket parts aboard my C-141 aircraft. I miss all that.

Ten minutes later the space shuttle contrails had become a very cool looking cloud and the sun was helping make it worth photographing.

I saw this crazy beautiful sunset while driving NASA Parkway after a great day at Kennedy Space Center. Since I was driving I couldn't take the picture so I directed my boyfriend to take it. It was a collaborative effort :)
I bough this photo at the Alameda Flea Market for $2. It was quite faded, but I brought it back to life.
Columbia was destroyed on it's return to Earth in February 2003
