Atlantis' final rollover from the VAB to its waiting museum space at the KSCVC

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Space shuttle Atlantis' bright-white, iconic frame illuminates the darkness as it touches down on the Shuttle Landing Facility's Runway 15 at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida for the final time. Securing the space shuttle fleet's place in history, Atlantis marked the 26th nighttime landing of NASA's Space Shuttle Program and the 78th landing at Kennedy. Main gear touchdown was at 5:57:00 a.m. EDT, followed by nose gear touchdown at 5:57:20 a.m., and wheelstop at 5:57:54 a.m. On board are STS-135 Commander Chris Ferguson, Pilot Doug Hurley, and Mission Specialists Sandra Magnus and Rex Walheim. On the 37th shuttle mission to the International Space Station, STS-135 delivered more than 9,400 pounds of spare parts, equipment and supplies in the Raffaello multi-purpose logistics module that will sustain station operations for the next year. STS-135 was the 33rd and final flight for Atlantis, which has spent 307 days in space, orbited Earth 4,848 times and traveled 125,935,769 miles. Okay, so there's one Saturn V and 2 shuttles in my main display area.

Reporter interviewing a kid is a space shuttle outfit.

I had no idea where it was going to appear in the sky or how bright it would be. Since I'm an idiot, I left the tripod ring at home.

Floating in the Atlantic Ocean about 150 miles northeast of Cape Canaveral are the right and left solid rocket boosters, which were jettisoned from the Space Shuttle Discovery 2 and 1/2 minutes into the ascent to orbit on Saturday evening, Dec. 9. Though the boosters landed in the ocean miles from each other, overnight wind and ocean currents allowed the left booster, which was floating higher in the water, to migrate to the location of the right booster. The SRB retrieval team monitored the boosters through the night, and confirmed that the boosters did not contact each other. Both boosters were towed back to Hangar AF at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, where the refurbishment operations are now underway.

Here's a 1/72nd scale Monogram shuttle cockpit - I'm building the shuttle w/tank and boosters in that scale. It's a big tall thing when it's done.

Taken on 6/30/06. This is a really horrible picture of the shuttle illuminated by a massive array of Xenon lights.

As close as I could get...

I shadowed the last ever Space Shuttle flight this week, having seen the first one go up (and before that, watch it jump off the back of a Jumbo!) and I grabbed a few screencaps from NASA TV.

Not sure what I'm going to use Google+ for now its all over TBH!
