This MOC is a quick build completed for a monthly build competition for my local LUG, Bendigo LEGO® User Group on the theme of ‘space’.

Here is a baby replica of the latest iteration of the LEGO Galaxy Explorer set 10497. It still has the main play features of the original set just down sized. Pop off canopy, steering wheels, opening rear end with boarding ramp, airlock sliding door and last but not least ride on booster engines!

This was a blast to build. And was inspired by the builds @troublesbricking made while I was travelling Europe. While on holiday I managed to track down this squad of space babies so that when I got as soon as I got back from holiday I could get into building this moc.

Think I cracked the code. Luckily I was going to the LEGO Store today anyway!

I wanted to build a compact but fully enclosed ship for these modern astronauts. Ended up being more complex than I intended (as usual). Now they just need a mothership to launch from! ;)

I work in designing telecommunications systems for light rail and we use lots of fiber optics in our designs. It never ceases to amaze me at the amount of information that is transported effortlessly through light. I found a fiber optic lamp on our conference room table and this image resulted.

Benny has been given a new helmet and he is very happy, despite having to vacuum the entire hangar before lunch.

Just had to build this little guy a spaceship!

It’s all about Time!

It’s time I finally cruised on in with my own recolour of the Interstellar space ship designed by @aaronbrickdesigner

Inspired to join in on the fun by @lego.joey @fleebnork @fazoom7 @mbgilliam45 @danishspaceprogram @troublesbricking @angusmaclane and many more!

TimeCruisers is one of my top 5 fave themes. Not only because I grew up reading the comics. But the action and sense of adventure in the sets them selves led my childhood into many worlds of imagination. Also the absolute ridiculousness of parts used to make their wacky contraptions was hilariously fun!

The official 1908something spaceman on the right represents the one piece of my childhood LEGO collection that remains in my possession. Despite the missing airtanks, he's in much better shape than Benny, don't you think? It's interesting to note that the "classic" smiley imitation on the left is slightly different than the original - the eyes are a bit closer together and larger. The replica helmet with fake crack is also thicker all around.
