As you journey though the superb Audio-Animatronic scenes, your seats eventually rotate to reveal a glorious star-filled night sky. You continue your trip backwards passing through the future.
The attraction was totally redone in 2007. The scenery was cleaned up, repainted and lots of new audio-anamatornics as well as scenes were added. The new audio-animatronics are amazing, very realistic and really brought each area to life.
Some scene highlights include: the New Kingdom of Egypt where the papyrus was invented, 9th century BC Phoenicians invent the alphabet, Renaissance in Italy, the Sistine Chapel Ceiling, Ancient Greece, Dark Ages and Destruction of Rome, the Age of Enlightenment, and the invention of the printing press. As your journey comes to an end, the narrator notes: "We all share the common bonds of hope and sorrows and dreams and joys."
Ten time Emmy®-award winning composer Bruce Broughton conducted a 63-piece orchestra and 24-voice choir for a new musical score for Spaceship Earth at Walt Disney World Resort. For the musical score, each scene was infused with musical styles and instruments appropriate to the time period, which was not an easy task according to Walt Disney Imagineering senior show producer Bob Zalk. “To have that score transition smoothly as vehicles travel from one time period to the next is extremely difficult,” he said. “The first time we rode through the attraction accompanied by that music, we were amazed.”

Spaceship Earths interactive video, sorry for the cruddy quality, but this portion of the ride caught me off guard. If you get to Epcot, do this ride, the ending was out of this world funny.
“Spaceship " conté crayon drawing was one of many advertisements that Norman Rockwell created for the Massachusetts Mutual Insurance Company during the 1950s and 60s . In the drawing four boys construct a “rocket” made up of a barrel, an inverted trash can and wooden fins. The boys hold hammers and other hand tools and one boy wears a clunky, imitation astronaut helmet.

It's primarily Bionicle silver weapons, with some blue highlights on the interior and a small cockpit for Hero-fig Bulk.
It's a little heavier than I anticipated, but I still think it can survive a throw. We will find our at BrickCon, I expect...
Y1 - Rumblebee is a experimental fighter, never fully developed because of problems in testing. For one pilots could not get used to controlling the weird angled thrusters, and there was no basic reusable weaponry. This left the pilot vunerable after discharging his missles.
Several proposals had been put forth to remedy it's weak pionts, but to no avail. The old rumblebee project was scraped.
I debated making this a bit bigger, but in the end I'm satisfied with a smaller design. Experimented a bit with striping in this one.
This is a model of Spaceship Earth featured in an Epcot 25th Anniversary retrospective museum tucked away in a corner of Communicore West. This is still so cool and still such far-out thinking that given my experience in corporate america, I'm surprised it was completed.
I don't remember why I cropped the shot the way I did here, but it probably had to do with being the only way I could hold the camera steadily enough.
I'm just glad that I missed out on the infamous wand that lingered too long, like a drunken party guest. It was good for the 2000 celebration, but stuck around way too long afterward. Can you imagine if the castle birthday cake theme had stuck around that long?

A microscale build of the Spaceship Victory from 승리호 (SPACE SWEEPERS).
I started on this project almost immediately after the movie released internationally, and displayed it in August 2021 at BrickFair Virginia.
At the time I started building this, the only available reference for the ship were screenshots, so I opted to leave out the transformation between its two configurations. Now that better images of the ship are available online... I would probably still build it the same way because the reconfiguration system for the engines is absurd.
Immediately after a light drizzle in Sydney, I was mesmerized by the sky and the clear, crisp air. But the cloud-only shots were looking mundane. And then I chanced upon a cathedral to give it a context...

Looking up at the geodesic dome in EPCOT
I was disappointed there wasn't prominent recognition of Buckminster Fuller and his concepts of the geodesic dome and perspective on "spaceship earth" at this 'ride'. I think failing to make that sort of thing prominent is both a disservice to Fuller and to Walt's vision for EPCOT.

This place is kind of hard to discribe, so a spaceship beacon station may not be far off. The tower has an old aircraft reserve fuel tank on the top and an old trailer (most likely the was stripped off for scrap) under a cover. It is just off the highway and pretty much out in waste land near Salton Sea. Maybe it is just for the tourist, who knows.
