2008 is the 25th anniversary of epcot.

future world, epcot.

walt disney world, orlando, florida.

for its 25th anniversary, wdw removed all other "ornaments" from epcot's iconic "spaceship earth", what has become the symbol of epcot, and returned it to it's original look when the park opened in 1983.

i was going for the old "kodak instamatic/polaroid" type look of a film/print where time has shifted the chemical and color balance. went with the flickrtoys polaroid frame because it was quick and easy. ^ ^

there was this thing hanging in front of the town hall, I guess it was for the launch of a new car or something

One of the most recognizable structures in all of Disney's theme parks, Spaceship earth stands 18-stories tall. It houses a time machine-themed ride ushering passengers through advancements in communication from pre-historic times through modern day and beyond. The exterior's geodesic sphere makes an incredible photo-op at nearly any time of day.

this is part of the mural in the kitchen. it's usually hidden behind boxes!

Spaceship Earth is the iconic and symbolic structure of Epcot, the second of four theme parks built at the Walt Disney World Resort. One of the most recognizable structures of any theme park, it is also the name of the attraction that is housed within the 18-story geodesic sphere that takes guests on a time machine-themed experience using the Omnimover system. The 15-minute dark ride shows guests how advancements in human communication have helped to create the future one step at a time. Passengers journey back in time to witness the origins of prehistoric man. Passengers then make several stops to witness important breakthroughs in communication throughout history—from the invention of the alphabet to the creation of the printing press to communication via computers. Then, after answering a few questions, Siemens technology allows guests to see what their future will look like.

A spacecraft (or spaceship) is a vehicle, vessel or machine designed to fly in outer space. Spacecraft are used for a variety of purposes, including communications, earth observation, meteorology, navigation, planetary exploration and transportation of humans and cargo.

Una nave espacial es un vehículo diseñado para funcionar más allá de la superficie terrestre, en el espacio exterior. Las naves espaciales pueden ser robóticas o bien estar tripuladas.

Just a little something I threw together.

Spaceship Earth is the iconic and symbolic structure of Epcot (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow), a theme park that is part of the Walt Disney World Resort. One of the most recognizable structures at the Walt Disney World Resort, it is not only the centerpiece and main focal point of Epcot, but also the name of the attraction housed within the 18-story geodesic sphere that takes guests on a time machine themed experience using the Omnimover system. The 13-minute dark ride shows guests how advancements in human communication have helped to create the future one step at a time. The attraction is a timeline from the origins of prehistoric man to the dawn of the 21st century, where guests can then create a future for themselves.

Another ride that I haven't been on in ages. Completely forgot what it was about. I took this on my way in and loved the way it turned out.

I started on this project almost immediately after the movie released internationally, and displayed it in August 2021 at BrickFair Virginia.

At the time I started building this, the only available reference for the ship were screenshots, so I opted to leave out the transformation between its two configurations. Now that better images of the ship are available online... I would probably still build it the same way because the reconfiguration system for the engines is absurd.

A heavily detailed spaceship interior, use a lot of greebling and some S.N.O.T building.

Lookin' very cool in the sun, clouds in the back. This was one of those "[girlfriend's name], please let me take just one more!" shots.

Thruster #1 and the engine block behind it.

Spaceship Earth is the centerpiece of EPCOT's Future World. The colors of red, blue, and purple make it come alive at night.

I know that it's supposed to be Monorail Mondays, but I came back from Disney with a total of zero Monorail shots. In retrospect, this is a wicked bummer.

Instead, here's a picture taken straight off my camera. After minor adjustments in the RAW Editor, it was saved as a .jpeg. There were no plug-ins, filters or anything else of the sort used. Pictures like this just remind me that it is possible to get an amazing picture without having to edit and slave away in Photoshop. Sometimes, the colors are so good in real life that they cannot help but to translate to "film."

On a cool day in February, Spaceship Earth sits, steaming, in the breezy, sunny courtyard of Epcot. Or it just has clouds over it. One or the other.

This was my first spaceship and my first MOC of the Space theme.

It's microscale and it was called Dragonfly because its shape reminded me of an insect.

It was made for a contest at Comunidade 0937:

Esta foi a minha primeira nave espacial e o meu primeiro MOC do tema espaço.

Foi construída em micro escala e chamava-se Dragonfly porque a sua forma lembrava-me um insecto.
