John Holliman was a member of the original reporting corps for CNN. He came to CNN after working for Associated Press Radio in Washington, DC. He rose to prominence as one of CNN's "Boys of Baghdad" during the first Persian Gulf War, He Join fellow CNN Reporters Peter Arnett, and Bernard Shaw in reporting live from a room in the Al-Rasheed Hotel. in 1991 when allied bombing of the city began. He was later known for his coverage of science, technology, and space exploration for CNN. John Holliman died from injuries received in a traffic Crash in Atlanta on September 12, 1998. He is buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
