Washington
Kind of a tourist angle, but when you explore a city in a day...well you become a tourist.
I found out later that my great aunt which is still alive went to the top on its original opening day.
We crammed in all that we could fit in a day before leaving the airport. Went to Jimi Hendrix's grave, harbor cruise, the Great Wheel ferris wheel, Aquarium, and walked along the fish markets downtown. My main disappointment that I couldn't see Mt. Rainer because of clouds. Also I didn't get to meet up with a Virginia friend that I haven't seen in 20 years. Next time.

At the Space Needle
Sixty miles to the southwest, Mt. Rainier looms over the Seattle skyline.

Kerry Park, Seattle
Due to construction on the Space Needle the entire building had its power shut off. This is the only time I've seen such an event, though previously nearby construction shut off some of the lights. Workers were seen inside with helmet-mounted lights.
The only light here is coming from the nearby KOMO Plaza.
