EXPLORE: 20 JUNE 2008 - Lots more of these to post. Starting tomorrow I'll sort through the photos from the trip. It was a wonderful trip and we enjoyed almost every moment of it. The 4 hour flights weren't all that much fun. Thanks for your visits and comments, your favs and invitations.
Since there are no fireworks at the Space Needle this year I made my own.
Combined photos of 4th of July at Boom City in Tulalip and Space Needle in Seattle via photoshop.
All photos taken in Washington State, USA year 2020 with canon cameras.
I took about twenty shots in this area. This was my favorite.

I was happy to be with a lot of strangers, and we stayed in cold for about three hours to witness the coming of 2019. The fireworks was absolutely gorgeous and I wish everyone a good year of 2019.
Juxtaposed Olympic Sculpture Park piece viewed from the entrance to Myrtle Edwards Park along the north end of the Seattle waterfront.
i keep forgetting i have a flickr acct and i like it here.
this was taken on the first sunny day after 3 months of literal darkness back in march. all i remember is that we set a record for most consecutive dark days. i was so hyped to see the sun that day that i brought my camera gear (and telephoto) to work.
There are so many places from which to capture a brilliant shot of Seattle at night. Here traffic is a blur of white and red, but the twinkling lights of the city shine beautifully.
* I will probably re-shoot this one.
I was up in Seattle a few weeks ago to teach a large format photography workshop to a group of US Army Corp of Engineer employees (who I think were photographing contracts they were receiving from DoD). They had a range of experience, but almost none in film, let alone large format film and they needed to learn not only how to use a 4x5 field camera but how to use it to adhere to HABS criteria for the buildings they were documenting. Since the government was footing the bill I was able to get a nice Airbnb in the Belltown neighborhood, just a stone's throw from the Space Needle. The condo building had a rooftop patio with this magnificently unobstructed view of the Space Needle itself. Given that I had spent the day teaching how to twist planes of focus into proper alignment for even focus and a lack of distortion, it may have been a balancing of the scales that I made good use of the Flexbody that evening to get a bit funky with those same planes of focus. I made about four images on that rooftop, twisting my plane first forward and then backward, and then changing position and repeating the same exercise. This would be one of those experiments.

Went to Pike place Market in Seattle today with a friend who is visiting me from San Jose, CA. Just a guided tour turned out to be a wonderful photo walk. Took so many good pictures. This is a statue of an Indian Man holding some kind of weapon. THis statue has been carved out of a stone, but does not know exactly what type of stone though.
Also an interesting fact that I found out today is that the Pike Place supports only local Business, they do not allow out of town people to setup a stall.
