This photo is part of a trip through central Poland, focused especially on the most tragic moments of the Holocaust and World War II, which devastated Poland like few places, but which at the same time contrasts with the incredible rebirth of the country up to the present day.

This vehicle is probably one of the most spectacular in the old Soviet arsenal. In fact, it is a self-propelled air defense radar. But look: tank tracks and wheels (from a T-54, specifically), truck cabin and engine, rear structure where the generators, electronics and operators are located and the "cherry" a huge, rotating old-school radar antenna. Its name is radar 1S12 or P40.

A Polish T-72 tank. It is one of the most important tanks of the late 20th century, and there are still thousands of them in service around the world. In the war in Ukraine hundreds have been destroyed, especially on the Russian side, famous for sending their turret into orbit when they explode massively.

Mobile shelter once installed by the soviet army. Left behind in what has meanwhile become a forest and not far from a well-known former soviet military compound in eastern Germany.

On a recent tour to a soviet military compound in eastern Germany, we came across this little guy. I guess we were quite lucky and my kids were far more excited by this finding than by anything else around us.

Hidden deeply in the impenetrable wilderness of eastern Germany, this majestic soviet army bunker has survived till today. May its massive doors stay closed forever.

Detail of a multiplerocket launcher truck, popularly known during World War II as Katyusha or Stalin's Organs. But in this case I am interested in the detail of the brand since it is a ZIS or ЗиС (from Zavod Ãmeni Stalina). Many of an earlier model, the ZIS-5, were sent to the Spanish Republican Army during the civil war there, where they were known, due to ignorance of the Cyrillic alphabet, as "3 Hermanos Comunistas" (3 H C), that is Three Communist Brothers.
