This poster I actually like and its the only one I have here not for the purpose of mocking the commies.
The inscription is a two line poem (it rhymes in Russian):
"Sniper shoots from afar,
But always with full accuracy."
The might of the Soviet military was never a triumph of communism. The military was built to be the best in the world. It was competition that drove innovation. While other industries were collectively failing or barely maintaining the status quo, military advances and space exploration were at the top of their game due to the competition brought by the government's desire to be better than the West.
This photo is part of a set which shows a trip that delegates from a Teacher's Labour League took from the United Kingdom to the Soviet Union in 1926. Two members of the National Union of Women Teachers, Ethel Froud (General Secretary) and Miss V. Hunt (Legal Aid Secretary) went on this trip.
This photo has no description but Miss V Hunt is fourth from the left and Ethel Froud is second from the right.

This is the memorial on Cannock Chase to the 22,000 Polish nationals executed in the Katyn forest during the Second World War by the infamous NKVD (People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs), the Soviet secret police organisation.
The Soviet Union continued to deny responsibilty for the massacre until 1990.
Buried in the soil beneath the memorial are phials of soil transported from Warsaw and the Katyn forest itself.

Now I had never heard of this tank before I played this game, and to me it looks just like an early T34. Well, that's perhaps not surprising because this prototype was a competitor to the T30 in Soviet army trials. In the end the T30 was accepted and became the T34 and the rest is history, as they say!
However, this is a smashing little scout, it's phenomenally fast and can mount a handy little automatic cannon. Sure you can' do loads of damage and you are bate for the big boys, but scouting is really fun and you can (if lucky) run rings round those lumbering giants, all the while spotting them for the rest of your team - much to their annoyance!
I have found that I can actually pick up a decent enough score in this scout, even it I just occasionally dink the enemy - but most of the time its all about dashing about from cover to cover exposing the enemy positions.
What I have started doing is to explore the different tank classes to see what they can do and at the same time build up a small range of types in my garage. In this way I can tailor my game to whomever I am playing with - as well as get a bit of welcome variety into the game. What my friends and I are trying to do is play together with roughly the same class or level of tank so that we aren't so outclassed due to the games sometimes wacky balancing - there isn't much fun in being a level III scout up against a horde of level VIII titans!
