HTT...Happy Tasty Tuesday!! :))

Delicious diner food at Millie’s diner and bakery in Simi Valley California...

Because it sounds so much better than "pond scum". I love wandering the local wetlands getting shots of the stuff growing on and in the water. From my Primordial Soup collection.

The simple version of the noodle soup consists of a bouillon to which different types of noodles are added or also cooked, supplemented with parsley or chives and possibly egg custard. I also added a sausage.

One of my all time favourite soups!! I've made this in the past and it was alway just "OK" but I've got to say my current effort was one of my best to date!! :)

Crockpot soup: leek, celery, potato, seasonings (Maggi, salt, pepper, veggie stock, beet stock, curry powder, turmeric), cauliflower, mushrooms, tomato. Simmered in a slow cooker for ±6 hours on 'low', to be blended at the end.

my spicy red lentil soup. Help yourself, my phone is ringing. It's my sister, the one with a Mercedes and room for a pony.

Added a little cayenne pepper. Gentle texture, spicy kick.

So sorry, I have no time to comment tonight... really early doc appt tomorrow!

Macro Monday's theme this week was "Fairytales". So although I made an amusing photo of an Italian fairytale called "The Pig King", I couldn't get it to be under three inches, and still tell the story. I was only showing three inches of the pig, and only three inches of the princess, but I couldn't get them both in the shot and be under the three inch limit. So, I will put that one in the first comment.

Instead, since I happened to have a tiny onion, I did "Stone Soup", a tale most people know. The reference to the tale is:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_Soup

Oh... that is a stone on either side, not a potato!

It is the tale of a poor and hungry traveler entering a poor village, where no one could feed him. So he started boiling some stones in water, and when curiosity brought the villagers to see what he was cooking, and he told them about how stone soup was better with a bit of spice or some vegetables, each villager brought one thing to add to the pot, and thus the whole village ended up getting to eat.

gammon a portion removed from the freezer. cooked a few days ago in the slowcooker, sliced and boxed for the freezer to eat as and when

after cooking the peas i added the chopped cooked gammon and a sliced onion. at this point i turned the pressure cooker back on again. i shouldn't have done so. everything was already cooked.

i burnt the bottom of the pan, realised what was happening, removed the pan from the heat onto a cool surface. it still tasted fine but i'll remember for next time :)

without scrapping the bottom of the pan, i decanted into the saucepan shown in the photo ready to be spooned into boxes for the freezer, to be eaten as and when

Blythe a Day. February 2025. Day 4

For 121 Pictures in 2021 #72 "Pop art style", this is meant to evoke Andy Warhol's 1961-62 paintings of 32 cans of Cambell's Soup. He painted each of the 32 varieties available back then on its own 16x20 inch canvas. The label has changed a bit over the years, and the old cans did not have the pull tab to open like this one does. But this is as close as we can come now. I think the tomato is the most well known - in fact until I started looking into it, I thought that was the only one he did. This version is a photo of the can solarized down to 16 colors, then adjusted the contrast a bit.
