Hi girls - this is my dog and your recent patient Soul wearing his favorite
Steeler's number 86!!
I rescued Soul from the WPHS in 2006. Soul literally was homeless as he
lived under the 9th St. bridge on the North Side of Pittsburgh with his
previous owner. They were known to panhandle in downtown Pittsburgh as
well. A woman donated 10 cases of food to the WPHS when she saw them
panhandling.
The previous owner surrendered him and he is quoted as saying, "this is no
life for a dog". The staff told me that everyone was in tears.
I was on my way there to adopt a Rottie mix and found I was too late, so
started looking through the kennel again.
As all the dogs were barking, jumping, etc. Soul just sat like a soldier,
looked at me with a lift of his snout as if to say "what about me??" After
that I was sold!! I never changed his name, I love his name. He has quite
the soulful eyes!
Everyone that knows him loves this dog. I love him with all my heart.
Compared to his life before, Soul may have hit the dog lottery but I
consider myself the Lucky Dog!!!
Thanks to you all for the amazing care you have given him over the last two
weeks. We will see you tomorrow hopefully for a clean bill of health!

There's a second favorite photo of Soul, take at Berkeley Springs WV. We go
every year for the pet friendly cabins. I love both of these photos and I
can't decide which is better. He is such a handsome boy! I'll leave that
up to you!
