yesterday-made "Antiques" are widely available in Kochi. Mattancherry has lots of shops filled with the so called antiques and hardwares .... which we keralites sarcastically call "soul of Kerala"
The term was widely popular among the flickrites at the last meet at Kochi...
now heading for the next meet at Kollam i presume .. vellam would be the term of the day..
Another photograph from the weekend. While the mist lingered across town, All Souls church, Boothtown stands proud.
All Souls church is considered one of the country's finest victorian gothic churches, the architect was George Gilbert Scott, famous in his day for London's Albert Memorial, St Pancras Station Hotel and other buildings.
Interestingly, I have been informed that it is clad in magnesian limestone, which is very soluble in slightly acid rain, of which there is a fair bit... which is why the church requires so much restoration.

The Soul Nebula (Sharpless 199, LBN 667, IC 1848 and others) is a large emission nebula located approximately 6,850 light-years away in Cassiopeia.
Sharpless 201 (IC 1872 and LBN 675) is the smaller nebula on the left side of the image. While distance estimates put it beyond it, IR data shows that it is attached to Sharpless 199.
Sharpless 198 is the small nebula located at the bottom right. It is ionized by a star in the IC 1848 (Sharpless 199) cluster.
I spent way too much time on this image. It is too large for my AT90EDT field of view. I tried to create a side-by-side two panel mosaic but I probably would have spent less time using four panels since it is so tight up and down. Clouds, getting a late start and other factors led to it taking a lot more exposure time than what I used below.
This is one of the Astronomy League’s Bright Nebulae objects.

Ha – 12x1800s – 360 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2
960 minutes total exposure (used for the image) – 16 hours

The Soul Factory returns to Ascona: a great local band that plays the music of Ray Charles, Etta James, Otis Redding, and of many other soul legends of soul.
The Soul Factory was formed in Lugano in 1999 - under the name of Swing Factory - by trumpeter Ceck Formenteri. Their repertoire initially included various musical genres drawing on the music of artists such as the Blues Brothers, Elvis Presley, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Ray Gelato, Candy Dulfer. Drawing inspiration from gas stations that have populated the American West, including the Coachella Valley, Saar’s station offers more than practical services; it provides fuel for the soul. She invites weary travelers to get “their blues flushed, spirits inflated, hearts charged, and souls filled.”
Inside the station, a sculptural assemblage handcrafted by Saar contains a collection of devotional objects. Saar has collaborated with Coachella Valley students to create foil repoussé medallions expressing prayers and wishes for healing and hope. These community-crafted elements, combined with furnishings made from salvaged materials, form a sanctuary that merges collective dreams with Saar’s vision of a spiritual oasis. At the center stands a life-size, hand-carved female figure, the guardian and healer of the site, exuding strength and protection.
