Wednesday I cycled 50km roundtrip along the Gallooping Goose Trail from WestshoreMall to Saseenos (almost to Sooke) and return.

Kopsiopsis hookeri -- they can be very dark too. If you are only glancing at them, they are easily mistaken for pine cones. These are on one of the main trails on the west side of Mt. McDonald in the Sooke Hills.
This is part of a park near Victoria, quite popular in the summertime for swimming and hanging out.
Deep, polished rock pools and potholes have been naturally carved into the bedrock of the Sooke River, as seen in this panorama, giving the park its name and reputation as a classic swimming hole area.
