(July 5 2008 187/366) Autofocus barely works in low light, and being hand-held, no doubt some of the blur in this photo is motion-blur. But I think the soft focus sorta works with the soft incandescent lighting, a bit mysterious.
"Sad-eyed and soft and grey thou art, o morn!
Across the long grass of the marshy plain
Thy west wind whispers of the coming rain,
Thy lark forgets that May is grown forlorn
Above the lush blades of the springing corn,
Thy thrush within the high elms strives in vain
To store up tales of spring for summer's pain -
Vain day, why wert thou from the dark night born?"
~ William Morris, 1834-1896 ~
From " Sad-Eyed and Soft and Grey"
I thought this was a gopher turtle and I was wondering if it were hurt because it's so flat, but the guy who helped me move it said it was a soft shell turtle and it "will bite my finger right off."
Boy, that turtle can run...he just hydroplaned along the street till it finally ended up back in the creek whence it came.
I found this one in the middle of the coop about a week ago. The first one ever not laid in the nest box. it looks like one of the hens must have stepped on it. It was soft-shelled when it was laid, then I left it out in the mud room for a few days and the inside froze, making it look even more strange because the shell became more deformed.
I made sure to give penny extra calcium (oyster shell) after this.
With wood buttons, rather than white, for a custom order (I like the wood!).

Soft vinyl molded hair doll. 6 3/4" tall.
The arms are jointed but the legs are not.
The molded hair on these dolls is wonderful.
