The soft light of the emerging sunrise gave a pretty look to the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge, July 22, 2023.
This is part of my "Heart collection" leading up to Valentine's Day. This rose image was taken on a reflective surface and if you look close you will see some "extra" stem leaves. Please view large and original if you have the time.
One doesn’t have to touch a flower to know its softness. “Softness” can seen in the minds eye and felt by describing the shape, color, contours and contrasts. Thanks for viewing my photos. Gratitude and Kindness will always play a part in appreciating a flowers beauty.
This is one from my archives. I hesitated to post it because I can remember so little about this rose and where it was taken. It could well have been in my old garden [before I downsized to my flat] as I had quite a few roses growing there. On the other hand, it could have been in a friend's garden....
It was taken with my basic Canon Ixus camera
Soft and dreamy sunrise over Brisbane Water with clouds, fog and boats at Koolewong and Tascott on the Central Coast, NSW, Australia.
Morning sun scatters through a thin layer of low cloud to light up the walls of the Jamison Valley.

There several of these beautiful flowers in a given area. So dainty and soft looking. I love the details and color of this real gem. Speaking of which........what happened to the ding?
For a while on Flickr, whenever there was activity on my stream there would be a loud ding with an alert box with the info....message/comment/fave.
Tho the dang ding made me jump, the alert box was a great way to keep up with what was coming into your mailbox (I only use Yahoo mail for Flickr).
Now......it and the alert message are gone.
Anybody know anything?

It is my second day of experimenting with a mirror reflex lens (the Samyang 300mm tele lens fixed at F6.3). The construction principle - the light is reflected twice by mirrors before it is bundled by glass lenses and projected on to the sensor - means that the resulting image is inevitably "softer" than those produced by traditional glass lenses. The photo here of the plaster cast head of a Diadoumenos (winner in the Olympic Games of antiquity) shows this softness. It is not a big issue for me. The head is about 6.5 cm high, and the distance to the camera is about 1.5m. The lens is perfectly able to honour the beauty of the scene - in some situations the "softness" could even be seen as very appropriate indeed.

A bird of prey must have lost this tiny feather.
With its intricate structure, I'm sure it kept its owner cozy warm.
To hold this delicate feather in place, I tucked it atop a matchbox, placed it in the bright morning sunlight, in front of a white sheet of paper.
While I was trying to fit the shadow within the frame without revealing too much of the object casting it, this awkward diagonale composition happened, which later caught my attention when editing the various attempts on the computer...
