i wish sofia dressed like this more often.

from US Vogue c. 2000...

Sofia is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria. The city is at the foot of Vitosha Mountain in the western part of the country. Being in the centre of the Balkan peninsula, it is midway between the Black Sea and the Adriatic Sea, and closest to the Aegean Sea.

Sofia has been an area of human habitation since at least 7000 BC. The recorded history of Sofia begins with the attestation of the conquest of Serdica by the Roman Republic in 29 BC from the Celtic tribe Serdi, raided by Huns in 343-347 AD and 447 AD, conquered by Visigoths in 376-382 AD, conquered by Avars and Slavs in 617 AD, and on 9th April, 809 Serdica was surrendered to Krum of Bulgaria. Bulgarian rule lasted until 1018, in 1040 and 1193-1382, which was interrupted by more than a century of Byzantine rule and by nearly five centuries-long Ottoman rule until Bulgarian rule was restored in 1878. During World War II Sofia was bombarded by the UK and US Air Forces and at the end of the war, it was seized by the Soviet Army.

The former Communist Party House /Bulgarian: Partien Dom/ is now used by the National Assembly of Bulgaria. Today the building is mainly used as Government offices and the splendid Sofia Hall is occasionally used for charity concerts.

Sofia Pinchuk - Erasmus + student from Ukraine at the dormitory of the Silesian University of Technology, Gliwice, Poland

Sofia Pinchuk had been studying in Poland and had finished the Erasmus course when war broke out and she found she was not able to get back home. She immediately received support from the Erasmus+ UKR office and continued her studies for 1 more year on full scholarship and funds to live and travel.

In response to the current situation in Ukraine, many European universities have offered their support to Ukrainian students by enrolling them in their courses, reducing or waiving tuition fees, and providing scholarships.

The Sofia Metro in Bulgaria's capital connects the city's airport to downtown and surrounding suburbs.

A dramatic sunset frames the Alexander Nevskey Cathedral. Built in Neo-Byzantine style, it serves as the cathedral church of Bulgaria and is one of the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedrals in the world, as well as one of Sofia's symbols and primary tourist attractions.

Lyulin Park

an very beautiful place to relax and wander around for hours ...

Sofia, Bulgaria

Lyulin (Bulgarian: Люлин, pronounced [ˈlʲulin]) is the largest residential complex both in the capital of Bulgaria - Sofia and in the whole country. It is located in the western outskirts of city and is divided into 10 microdistricts. The complex has a population of 114,813 and is at the disposal of all means of public transport.

Lyulin is a relatively new district. The infrastructural work on the complex began in 1971 and the first condominium was constructed in 1973. The complex is named after the nearby Lyulin Mountain. It is a popular place to live, as transportation is favourable and the real estate is somewhat inexpensive. Thx to Wikipedia
