Sofía in a class of the portrait workshop. A couple of weeks ago, here in Buenos Aires.

Throughout the history of painting and (especially) cinema, “split light” is a scheme in which the light comes entirely from the side (or almost) to immerse half of the face in shadow. It is often used in situations of drama and emotional eclipse. I sometimes like it as a way of creating mystery in someone's expression.

In color theory, “analogous colors” are hues that are close to each other because of their proximity on the color wheel. Many thanks to Sofía for her collaboration, through clothes, personal objects (such as Virginia Woolf's book) and her very existence!
