"What happened to the rest of my body? Where am I? I was taking a nap? Milk! Mum? Where's lunch? Oh, I am so cold . . ."

"Wait a minute! I did not want to wake up from my nap! Ask my daddy. He likes to nap a lot, too. Well, that and eat bread . . . Who said I wanted to go swimming? Waaaaaaaa!"

"Ha ha! This is better. I can sleep and moon you guys at the same time. Oh, I still feel so violated . . ."

Lindsay was with a group of high spirited women who were out celebrating the upcoming wedding of their friend Jessica. They asked me to take some shots of the bride to be, along with a couple of group shots.

As you can imagine they were having some fun and asked me what kind of photographs I was taking. Not one to miss an opportunity I showed them some of my strangers on my phone and explained the concept of 100 Strangers. I asked if there were any volunteers and immediately Lindsay said yes. A wonderful outgoing personality Lindsay has turned her life completely around, from being on the brink of despair to working today as a Social Worker, working with people who have addiction issues.

A proud mom of one Lindsay is originally from the Ottawa Valley, who has now made her home in Ottawa.

Lindsay believes she has psychic powers which helps to ground herself and she can help others deal with their problems. A people lover who is really enjoying her life, Lindsay exudes confidence and positive energy.

Thank you Lindsay for being a part of my project, please contact me and I will send you your photographs.

This is picture #193 in my second strangers series.

P. Sridevi (in a blue sari) worked in SHIP Positive Network PPPTCT + ve project as outreach worker. At present she is working as Family Case Manager in Bala Sahayoga project.

During 2006 to 2009 May in PPTCT +ve project she worked as ORW. When Red Ribbon express reached Guntur Station on May 1st, 2nd and 3rd of May, 2008 , Ms Sridevi took responsibility to provide information to the visitors who approach information box .She felt happy that she contributed in orienting people through information box towards prevention of epidemic.

That incident motivated her to involve more into similar kind of activities. She started follow up of pregnant women in referring them to ICTCs, if they found positive then continuous follow up till 9th month, counseling the spouse and ensuring their HIV test, use of condom, supporting them for institutional delivery, ensuring nevirapine prophylaxis etc.

Till now Ms Sridevi followed up 100 +ve mothers. As a Family Case Manager, now she is doing the follow up of families of positives. Orienting the HIV positives on Services available, encouraging them to access the services, ensuring the drop out children of positives to join the schools, supporting them to cope up with the stigma and discrimination through counseling the total family.

The strong reason behind her work for positives is .......She is positive and she feels that nobody should become positive like her.

Disasters like the tsunami can have a long-term psychological impact on children, which may only become clear years afterwards. “Many children affected by the tsunami did not finish school, especially those who lost one or both parents,” Principal Weerawat says. “Their families could not cope with the loss and there was nobody for the children to hold on to.”
