love the quiet of snow at night

Hand held at night in the back garden - the EOS 5d Mk2 at 6400asa - taken just with the distant glow of the street lights

Cows gathered together outside the snow covered barn as night fell.

Shadows were floating and flowing on the snow…

me on a snowy night without a computer... or a phone.. .because mine died.

Beneath the velvet sky, Darina glides over the winter's frost, her evening dress capturing the moonlight and casting a celestial glow on the snow. Each movement is a delicate dance with the night, her silhouette a contrast of darkness and sparkle. This collection marries the tranquility of a winter's night with the glamour of a gala, creating a stunning visual symphony that whispers tales of elegance and mystery.

I added this one because it was a close up of the snow on the can (bin) lid and you can see the individual flakes to some extent, particularly in the larger sizes. They are your traditional 6 sided crystal structure snowflakes and they are flat and glassy, catching the light. The lid itself is about 20 inches (50 cm) accross. The snow was about 10 inches deep.

Sometimes the little imperfections make all the difference. Maybe it was the late shift, or the early morning I had to look forward to the next day, but my apartment building has never looked so welcoming. It might not be the best apartment, but it feels like home.

After I took the other pictures another 4 inches or so of snow fell. This was the sparkly big flake lake-enhanced variety. I went out at night to shovel and looking at the beautiful glitter decided once again to try to capture the sparkle. So, all the white specks are glitter of light from my house and the street light reflecting off the snow flakes. It had stopped falling. I kept the exposure low to try to replicate the effect.

under this swan is a long dedication to a man who died after a battle with brain cancer. it seems it was really important to the family to leave a lasting record of what happened.
