It's been snowing heavily all day today and tomorrow will probably be a slushy mess!

Taken on 24th of December 2010. Because of the strong wind and the dense snowflakes, it was nearly impossible to take pictures!

I stayed with colour in this photograph because it clearly shows the progress of the light snowstorm that was blowing across Mt Olympus and into the forest at its base. This photograph was taken with an ND filter and 13 second exposure. The wind was howling and that explains the "blurriness" of the image as all the trees were moving along with the surface of the lake.

The sun is lighting the trees in the foreground which separate Cynthia Bay from Platypus Bay, but beyond them the forest is starting to show signs of the snow flurries.

We made a unplanned stop at Yellowstone on our way home from Washington. There was a quick snowstorm while we were there and it turned into a beautiful winter wonderland. Especially now with the flooding I feel blessed that we stopped. It may be years before we get to go back. This may be my favorite shot of the trip.

The day after my area received it's first snowstorm of the year, CN 5716 leads westbound train 406, as they head by Passekeag, nearing Hampton, New Brunswick, bringing it's own snow storm with it.

January 8,2017.

Suburban street

where a slick mash

of ice and sleet

is falling, cars

geared down, tree

branches sagging

and a wind that

seems phlegmatic

suffers through

the night, roofs

glazed, the cold

numbing to those

out in it, man and

dog, patrol officer,

an insomniac who

seeks the silence

of God but hears

a distant siren

wailing her name:

what falls might

be the dust of stars,

chips of light,

crystals swirling

piecemeal

in a brain-

storm I might

only have

imagined

It was so incredibly cold. I could do this for 10 minutes then my fingers were starting to freeze off.

It was a freezing, windy, snowy day and I waited for this snowy owl to finally take off. I was not sure if I got the shot because I was so cold I was shivering.
