The snow is maybe 3 feet deep at the window, closer to 5 feet in some places in the yard. By the end of the storm, the patio furniture had disappeared under the snow, there was a 4 foot drift at the back door and a 3 foot drift at the front door. Good thing I didn't need to be anywhere :)

Finding time for self,

To explore the path at hand.

What is lurking there?

Light among shadows!

Through the darkness comes oneself,

Strong yet delicate.

Embrace the contrast.

Direct your attention now,

Guide oneself to light.

During a mid-April blizzard in Minneapolis, snow has piled on a car's hood but nowhere else.

The snowdrift was about 1.5m here and just about 25cms gap to get between the drystone wall and the wall of snow.

Just as I was about to take this photo, the wind picked up and created a spray. Good timing!

Taken February 11th, 2010 by Steve. What a mess!

I noticed yesterday on my way to work that I could see some snowdrops peeking over the top of a wall. It didn't make sense to me why they were so high, so I went to investigate this evening. Turns out the earth just banks up against that side of the wall - nothing amazing, but there was a whole lot more snowdrops than I was expecting.

I couldn't really do them a huge amount of justice as I couldn't get as close as I would have liked withouth losing the angle. Plus it was a bit shady and overcast!

Ah well... you get the snowdrift I hope!

(I lost a bit of detail on the petals of the flowers at the front. I think this is because I had to crank the ISO up a wee bit. I've added a photoshop 'poster edge' filter as well to try and bring out the definition a bit, but made that more or less transparent before 'flattening'.)

Well, we woke up to sunshine . . . but, it's definitely not warm! And, we again have a snow drift that needs to get dug through before we can get the car out! Grrr! (09-02-26-5088)

With just the winds blowing overnight and mostly Condition 3, we still got some decent snow drifts.
