For my birthday last month my Dad sent me some money. One of my purchases was a Ninja blender. I am kinda obsessed with it. The first is a pineapple banana smoothie that I found a recipe for online. The second is a mango strawberry smoothie, my own recipe. I really love this thing and I can't wait to make some homemade salsa with it.

While the blender you see is not a blendtec, it does blend items indiscriminately, we had picked this up in E-town after our beloved food processor/blender combo failed on us. To be fair that POS a bad job at both functions, just as our POS toaster oven. From now on we only get the single function small appliances. How has the worked out? Pretty good so far, this guy eats anything into a smooth texture, while the toaster makes crisp toast mmmmmm.
Anyways I thought to change up the photo I would get an action shot of our beloved blender in action. I think wifey has been mixing oatmeal into the smoothie lately. While not the biggest fan of oatmeal, I guess it is true that if you blend it, it will taste good, also I did say I would be open to anything that enters the mouth of the blender jar.
The other thing I wanted to mention is since we moved to Van city I noticed that the Costco's here stock the Blendtec, damn awesome unfortunately a cheap arse like me would never drop 3 bills like it hots for a blender when our 20 dollar blender does the same job, possible in 3 times the time.

The Ginger Peach smoothie is so refreshing! And what would a smoothie be without "a bendy straw," says Chef Stefanie Paganini.
this was lunch one day -- a "monkey madness" smoothie with added greens booster. The server tried to talk me out of it because of how green it would look but it tasted great.
my smoothies are beautiful. suck it, jamba juice.
if you view this in the original size and look closely at just a small section at a time it looks like a tongue or... something. horrifying!
Un smoothie à la pêche avec une chantilly au basilic. Etonnant mais dommage que le verre soit si petit :-)

Well there you have it, I have documented the 30 day challenge via photos and blog entries. Very tasty end. Speaking of tasty last night wifey and I watched The Lunchbox, a humorous movie.
For those who do not know anything about the movie, it is a Bollywood film with backing from Hollywood. The movie is about India's lunch system, where housewives and caterers provide hot lunches to the office worker. The food is made fresh before lunchtime and is picked up and delivered. The lunches appear to travel quite the distance to the hungry office worker. The premise of the movie is there is a mix up and an office worker mistakenly continues to get the wrong lunch box, while the husband suffers from getting "other" lunch.
The wife figures out that the lunch was sent to the wrong person and a penpal friendship starts to develop, with advice being dished out. I will leave it at that, as I am sure some peoples interest is now peaked. Over all the movie gets a thumbs up from me.
Oh yes the smoothie, wifey used some cranberry juice today instead of the typical coconut water. Just to change things up, it was delish.
mezzacotta Café patron Rebecca Curtis sent in this photo of an M&M smoothie.
She writes:
You can't really see the little bits of M&M floating in the smoothie, so I put some on top of the whipped cream for added visual interest. This one is made with banana, vanilla ice cream, milk (rice, soy, or dairy will work), and peanut butter M&Ms in a blender; topped w/whipped cream and whole M&Ms. I could have added some peanut butter to the smoothie, but the peanut butter M&Ms took care of that. (Mmmmmmm... peanut butter banana..... Yummy!) Oh, and make sure to use an extra width straw, otherwise the M&M bits will get lodged in a regular sized one.
