Rollers go smashy smoosh into the type. The rollers are old and softer than they should be and really just smash into the type. Yuck. The old expansion rollers were shot. the rubber crumbled when I took the old rollers off, and they were seized onto the cores.

Rest in peace, wall.

Lots of better paintings underneath this one, surprised it lasted as long as it did.

Went to work for two hours before cocking up some guy's account and then figured I probably wasn't recovered enough to be working. Then since I was working I accompanied Jackie to Dandenong to get a quote for her smashy car. The mechanic is the father of a friend of mine so we were hoping to get a fairly good price. We had to sit around and wait for a phone call in his workshop. So Jack and I spent some quality time down in Dandy and I even got a baked spud that I had been dying for.

Today we were driving and saw a small evergreen tree lying in the road, evidently recently liberated from its planter by a car accident.

I said to D, "Poor tree. It's totally going to die out there."

D said to me, "Should we save it?"

Of course we should. We turned around and found a place to park for a moment. The pictures above show D lovingly tucking said tree into a big blue IKEA bag. While he was doing so, an older gentleman parked next to me and I was convinced he was going to give us a hard time. Instead he said, "People hit those things all the time! And they're expensive!"

D answered, "We thought we'd save this one."

The old guy said, "Sure, I'd do the same thing!"

And that is the story of how we became the happy rescuers of a small xmas tree. We've named him Smashy, and bought him a big plastic pot and a bag of dirt at Target for a home. He's currently resting happily (I mean, as trees go) on our balcony, where he has a view of the ocean.

See the big version.
