Typhoon Souledor hit Taiwan on August 9th and left at least 6 people dead. This was the biggest typhoon to hit Taiwan in a long time and left a huge amount of damage in Kaohsiung. On Sunday I ventured out and took these photos while walking the dog.
Surprisingly, they have just righted the banyan. Hopefully it survives the typhoon that is due to hit tomorrow!

A co-worker smashed a JesusPhone, and it still works! Pretty broken pieces of glass. She had added one of those protective plastic stickers to prevent scratching, I guess. But it seems to have paid off by preventing a catastrophic tinkling sound.

When I got home from my Marietta stroll, I discovered that I'd smashed all but one of my heirloom tomatoes when I rolled around in the parking lot.
One of the most fun parts of the festival is the giant pumpkin that they fill with beer and tap - this is the pumpkin after all the beer ran out.
This is right after I walked into a wall at work. Nice. It actually looks a little more screwed up in this picture than it is. It makes my nose look crooked, but it's not. The tiny cut is the only obvious evidence right now, but I assume much bruising is to follow. And at the time it was still bleeding from the left side.
The screen shattered the day after January's gales. No signs of anything that might have hit it though!
