Experimental portrait shot captured on Canon 60D of my professor in California.
Since I'd been heavily invested in fine arts at the time and only previously taught myself about photography through experimentation and research, I decided to take a night community college photography course during high school to brush up on my skills and learn a bit more about my camera. This is actually a candid shot of the professor sitting under a harsh Smartboard projector light, which acted as a spotlight in the dark classroom as he expressively chatted with several people who stuck around after his lecture.
I had no idea what kind of photo I wanted to take today so I settled on a re-make. Yeah, I'm pathetic. This was inspired by Mitchell Davis; one of this generation's most breathtaking photographers (in my opinion, at least). This is quite the epic fail and I do the original photo no justice, but I figured it was better than skipping out on a day and ruining the whole set.
(Feel free to say, "WOW YOU SUCK.")
Homeroom was DEFINITELY the best part of the day. We used the SmartBoard and went on YouTube and watched videos for "La La Land" by Demi Lovato and "I Want Candy" by Aaron Carter. Major dance party........although I was really the only one dancing like an idiot :D
I couldn't walk at all due to the intense ballet session I participated in yesterday at school. It was a challenge stumbling up and down the staircases; and just walking in general. It was such a hectic day because of my disability, but the good news is: I finished all my homework in my free period so I'm free for the night!
I cut my bangs today too. I really just tried to trim them....but I think they came out a whole lot shorter than I initially hoped for :(

....I LOVE THIS SONG. NOT EVEN KIDDING. My favorite part has to be where she sings, "I'm not a super model, I still eat McDonalds." only because it makes me crack up hysterically.
As the Evening Standard pointed out in June of 2019, ".... Goldman Sachs's new £1 billion London headquarters is full of family-friendly features, including lactation suites for new mothers, a nursery with pet fish and a climbing wall, and “resting rooms” for tired bankers. ….. the US investment bank’s European HQ in the Square Mile has a string of innovations for its 6,000 UK staff, known for working punishing hours in return for multi-million-pound pay packets. The 10-storey office, known as Plumtree Court, is bigger than 26 football pitches and has the largest trading floor in London. When staff begin to move in next weekend, they will be able to sign their babies and pre-school children up to a 7,000 square-foot nursery and play centre, which includes a water play area, technology classroom with a wifi-connected smartboard, trikes, a play kitchen, two napping rooms and an “art gallery’” for tots’ drawings."
In my teaching career, we have gone from blackboards and chalk, to whiteboards and dry wipe pens and we now use SMARTboards. PS this is one photo and not a diptych.

"We live in a world of noise: squeaks, honks, laughter, etc. Make a photo of a noise maker you hear today."
This was my second choice for today's dailyshoot assignment. Since I still had to fill in the old one, I'm posting it under that prompt. I am VERY thankful that we don't have to use our chalkboards often anymore. Most of our classrooms are now equipped with SmartBoards, which make only the occasional squeaking noise if your hands are sweaty!
Just experimenting with something new. I took these at school against a smartboard, not really wondering what to expect. I haven't finished editing all in the series but I intend to soon. Thank to my beautiful Jessie for modeling for me.

We have room for community circles, this year we added the Smart-board through the PBS Teachers Innovation award, so that has become a central space where we start our days. The students join me by sitting on the carpet first, then moving to the tables once they get “hooked” on our project. The hard part of such a large space is creating the classroom atmosphere, so that students are tempted to run all over the place—so far so good!

A new addition to Judy's classroom is this SmartBoard, a combination projector, stereo, and touchscreen. Hook up a laptop, and the software lets you "write" on the screen with virtual markers and "erase" with a virtual eraser (they are physical items, but just work as styluses touching the touchscreen, and don't mark the actual board).
Because it's digital, work can be saved, videos shown, Flash used, etc.
On July 10th 1915, St Anne Stanley primary school moved to their new building on Prescot Road, Old Swan. While there are now smartboards and computers instead of blackboards and slates, the building itself is roughly the same, despite lots of modernisation within. Double glazing and shutters have been added, along with lots more exit doors for convenience and safety. It's a smashing school with great kids and staff. In addition to these ones, I did do a dozen or so of the type 'class 2, 1950 and class 2, 2015' and ones where the 'ghost kids' of the 1920s mingle with and are greeted by their current day counterparts. If I am able to put a few of those up later, I will do, but it depends on receiving permission from the school (lke all schools they have strict rules about permission for using childrens images etc). They are all on display in the school between 6 and 8pm tonight though.
"I stand dark and silent, never speaking a word. But my message out of dust will be seen not heard." It took me a while to get this one, but I eventually found my answer: chalk. At first I had issues; there are no factories in Gotham that made chalk. So where in Gotham would I find chalk? After a night of thinking, I came to a conclusion: a chalkboard, like in school! Uh, just what I wanted to do, go back to school during summer. Anyway, I dismissed Gotham High and Brentwood as possibilities since they either moved on to whiteboards or smartboards. Then I remembered something from about 10 years back. Joker once held a preschool hostage. Since then, that preschool building was abandoned. When I say abandoned, I mean it. When I arrived, I wasn't destroyed or dilapidated or anything. Everybody just got up and left, not looking back. I looked around the classroom, glad preschool was FAR behind me. The place looked like it was designed with goddamn building blocks, and toys were all over. In the fake-gold toybox, Nightwing's shock batons were sticking out. I did see a chalkboard; however, but that wasn't what told me Nightwing was here. It was the not-so-subtle barred off broom closet, with a new-ish security monitor next to it and a rather unhappy Nightwing inside. It's funny, really. I figured that if Nightwing was locked in a broom closet, one of his fangirls, like Starfire or Barbara would be in there with him. That'd be typical of him. Anyway, I easily hacked the security monitor and the bars fell. There was a time bomb on his lap as well. Also easy to hack and disarm. When I was done, I took the moment to give ol' Nightwing shit for being captured, which he kindly responded with a "screw you". He also told me that Riddler planned to move away from Gotham, and that he was the last hostage. Thank god. With that, he grabbed his shock batons and left, without a simple "thank you". And people say I'm just like Batman.....
There's a single easter egg in this picture. HINT: It's been a running easter egg of the series.
One of the games my students love to play on laptops or the smartboard is X-Terminate, where they try to smack as many cockroaches as they can.
I am inventing a new type of chalkboard that changes back and forth from chalkboard mode to Smart Board mode and these new chalkboards will be the best your teachers want in schools and these new chalkboards will be in the new The new P3 ceramic steel surface chalkboards with the color of the writing surface be either modern green or vintage black and will enhance coverage, color contrast and erasability vastly improving the visibility of written material and the Smart Board is for the class to see education videos, power point presentations etc easily and better than an Epson projector on a White Screen and / or on those nasty dangerous toxic dry erase boards which are bad for little kids since that Expo markers and other dry erase markers have bad dangerous chemicals in them where as chalkboard chalks such as Crayola Anti-Dust Chalks and other Dustless Chalks are completely safe and Non-Toxic and the Smart Board built in these new school chalkboards of the future will also be used to watch school appropriate movies such as Walt Disney's animated films Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Pinocchio on the Cinema Free app which will all of these Smart boards will have.
Here is a typical classroom at UFindlay. More importantly, it's much like a typical classroom in a public school in Ohio. In the district where we live almost all the rooms have Smartboards similar to this one. When I survey my students as to the most important technology used in education, I get "interactive whiteboards" as the number one listing.
Ten years ago few teachers were using these devices. In another ten years, I'm certain they will almost all be gone; replaced by some device held by each student.
This is what I do. I help teachers understand that technology is continually changing and with it, the way our children are educated.

Laptops and tablet PCs are being used in this group activity. The Smartboard plays a vital role in developing and conveying concepts (through the use of the connected tablet PC) and stimulating group discussion and interactivity.
This from our art room. It is in the original part of the school building. You can just make out the built-in blackboard behind the Smart Board.
At one time blackboards were the new technology just being introduced into the classroom. Televisions were predicted to revolutionize learning. Smart Boards are one of the latest tools that are supposed to change teaching and learning.
With all of them it falls to the teacher to learn how best to use the tools to have a positive and effective impact on learning.

Free standing electronic smartboards (cleverboard) and whiteboards, accessible electricity points and portable furniture make this space ideal for self directed private study. The tables have a hole in the centre to pass cables through making the table less congested.

Students move their apples to show me if they are having cold lunch or hot lunch. It also helps me take attendance!
There are ten booths or 'pods' in this group working space; two larger booths for eight students and the remainder for six plus a tutor. Booths contain a central table, laptops and tablet PCs plus a large plasma screen used for displaying students documents or a Smartboard. Back and top lighting is controlled by dimmer switches.
