Picked this up in 1985, I believe. My family and I had flew out to California to visit my Mother who lived out there at that time. This was a fun place to visit and I would like to go their again, some day!
Detail of a small plate, traditionally used in Japan for sushi. Third in a series of five cat plates, each with a unique cat painting.
Two more of the cats in this set of five can be seen on my Flickr photostream. I have photographed three to date. Two remaining.

The restaurant is the inspiration of chef John Rivera Sedlar. I guarantee that you will have more fun exploring your way thru the menu of small plate dishes, especially the whimsical small bites. See my blog posting at:

Vegan marinated chickpeas, roasted zucchini and tomatoes, piquillo hummos, tabouleh, spiced dried sweet potato chips
I loved this dish (finally got this online!). Wonderful small plates dish that we will definitely make again - recipe here: coreyrecipes.blogspot.com/2016/05/coconut-shrimp-with-apr...
I usually take a photo of my breakfast as an insurance shot, but this is the first time (so far) that I have resorted to using it as my photo of the day.
This "full breakfast" was served on a ridiculously small plate - I included the paperback book to indicate the size.
It was hot and tasty though, and I ate it all up. I also had 2 cups of coffee.
The train that I had booked was cancelled, and I managed to catch an earlier one. Fortunately for me there were spare seats (and food).
The weather was wet and grey, and I wasn't pleased with any of the photos that I took en route. So, here's a picture of my breakfast.
