have you ever encountered someone in your life where, without any warning, she's gone and changed you? she didn't mean to. she was just being herself. but in being her spirited and fiery and stylishly badass self, she opened my eyes a little bit, and woke me up a little bit, and helped me live a little bit.
i shot each of these three photographs with her in mind. they're not the best shots i've ever taken, but that wasn't the point of the exercise. the point was putting her voice (which i've never heard) in my head. seeing things. living things. shooting. shooting. shooting.
i can honestly say i would not be who i am on this rainy saturday afternoon if i hadn't fallen into flickr, befriending this hellcat along the way.
happy birthday, smalldogs.
Major belongs to Teenie, who works with us in the bakery..and he is a Llasa Apso breed. Very very cute, lots of fun, like a teddy and thus Carlo is not in this because he loves to chew teddies and throw them around!!!! Great viewed large.

The story is about resort guests near Red Rock State Park in Utah being able to "check out" dogs from a local shelter to walk on the trails.
When I explained to the editor who contacted me about using the pic (found via Flickr! Yay) that this image was actually in Arizona (Bear Mountain trail near Sedona) he said that did not matter, it still made a great illustration for the story.
How can you not like a company like Small Dog Electronics in Vermont? They not only sell Mac products at decent prices but also send you toys with each purchase. This is part of my collection from them. Thanks, Small Dog!
I buy my computer stuff at Small Dog Electronics, which sends you one or more small dogs with every purchase. Sometimes I enjoy using them as photo subjects.
These two are inseparable. Jedediah the tiny chihuahua just loves big gentle dog Auggie... it is so funny to see them chasing each other around the tree in the back yard! (This photo was taken by my best friend Sue, and cropped and enhanced by me.)
this is probably about the only photo she has ever "posed" for. you have to be quick with her because she hates photos
It's the latest California fad, "Chiuahua Nail Clipper's". A dog's love for it's master is never ending.
And ready for her new home! Yay! After several texts to friends, posters in shops and emails, a new home has been found for this lost dog. An old school friend of mine called to say that one of her co workers would take her. Yesterday she was taken to the groomers for a tidy up. She sporting a new red collar and pleased with her bone. There is another small dog in her new household so she'll have someone to play with. I'm very very pleased and relieved.
In fact, Ritzy looks a bit shocked. She rarely holds still for any kind of photo, so I was lucky to grab this shot.
For years, I have purchased Apple products from Small Dog Electronics because they were recommended by my daughter Jessamyn. They turned out to be as helpful as she said they would be. However, I had never been to the store before this week. Everything had been done online or by telephone. Yesterday I finally had the chance to visit the store in person. They were really great--good service, unintimidating, and helpful. I refrained from telling them that my brother was now the new voice of Apple products online, but I'll let you in on the secret....You can hear him here.
My roommate's friends brought over their gentle dogs on their way to travel to fun places this weekend.
