Just messing with the Giant Sequoia Cone! It really DOES have some purple in it but I have been "lily gilding!! This is the stem end of the cone! HSS
Another bit of fun for Sliders Sunday, entirely cooked using Affinity on the iPaddle. :)
This is a picture of flint pebbles on a path, there is a link to the original in the first comment. Naturally, it’s been mangled and, after in spite of all the fun, I still quite like the modern abstract art look at the end. It was mainly done with layer blending and a bit of Liquifying. As it didn’t really take long to do it feels a bit like cheating…
- I first duplicated the image layer and flipped it both ways, blending it back with Difference. This gives it symmetry (most noticeable around the edges in the final result.
- I then corrected the contrast and colour a bit and merged the result into a new layer.
- Next, I used the Liquify tool on the merged result, dragging things around while blending this (liquified merge) layer with the previous ones using Lighten blend mode. I've not really tried this before - 't were fun 't were :) I kept the liquify effect away from the edges and used a swirly motion for the distortion to give it a sense of something in a frame.
- After that I used the Lighting filter to add a bit of texture: two white spotlights top and bottom aiming them at the middle, with a few pixels of texture added (this adds a slight embossed edges effect to the shapes in the image).
- Finally a bit of adjusting tone and colour along with a light vignette.
I’m willing to accept cheques or cash ;)
Thanks for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the twurdled image. May your slides be lurid and fun… :)
Millau Viaduct
Millau Viaduct holds the world record for the tallest bridge, culminating at 343 metres (higher than the Eiffel tower), 2460 metres long and touching the bottom of the Tarn valley in only 9 places.
Conceived by the French engineer Michel Virlogeux and designed by the English architect Lord Norman Foster, it fits perfectly into the naturally intact and grandiose landscape: a very thin slightly curved steel roadway supported by stays gives it the appearance of a huge yacht and the ensemble rests on 7 very slender pillars.

The long & winding road.

SLIDING quenching plops with sound
This is a combined jumble of unorganized, unplanned images of miscellaneous bits of vegetation captured during my walks through the marsh, which I then scrambled up in Topaz - mainly Topaz Simplify - and somehow ended up with this image. And I did it all just for Sliders Sunday... A couple of the images that went into this jumble are shown in the first comment below.

Sunny view of the Ententeich (duck pond) at the Rudolph-Wilde-Park in Berlin's Schöneberg district. To the left, you can see the tower of Rathaus Schöneberg which, during the time of the Berlin Wall, was West Berlin's main town hall. John F. Kennedy spoke to the West Berliners from the balcony of Rathaus Schöneberg when he visited the city in June 1963.
I should admit that I cheated with the Flag of Berlin which is only set on special occasions and when we were at the park in May '23 for a leisure stroll it had just been another ordinary day – no flag. And because the tower looks nicer with the flag I flipped through my Rathaus Schöneberg folder and "borrowed" the flag from an older photo.

I added the pelican that looks like he's about to land in the midst of that pack of pelicans, and then ran the image through Topaz Impressions for Sliders Sunday.

Post Processed to the Max
Every part of this little video clip was derived from the same single photo of a stained glass Dragonfly that I took in 2008; the girl at the end with the help of WOMBO using the dragonfly photo.
Our local camera club assignment this month was fruits and vegetables. Out of my comfort zone and with limited interest, I must admit, I took this image I submitted and decided to play with it in a new editing program. Happy Sliders Sunday

For Sliders Sunday: More handheld high ISO fun, this time a blue hour capture from Berlin's historical center. We were walking towards the Berliner Dom (Berlin Cathedral) but sometimes it pays off to look back because the quite spectacular sunset was behind us. The historical building on the left is the back of the Bode Museum, part of the Museum Island.
As it got darker, I switched between exposure bracketing and single shots. In this scene, the camera was still set to bracketing, and because I wanted to get the S-Bahn (urban railway) into the photo I forgot to set the camera back to a single image so I had to keep the camera still quite long. As a result, not everything is tack sharp but I think the slight blur here or there adds to the atmosphere. Not that you have to wait long for urban trains or even long-distance trains in this spot because some of Berlin's most important lines ride through the Mitte district but we also wanted to capture the Berlin Cathedral at the blue hour so we decided to move on.
I combined the three bracketing images in HDR Efex and added this and that in Color Efex so this is a true slider. I hope you like it.
Happy Sliders Sunday!
P.S. Does anyone know what happened to the Flickr map? In the regular view, it is absolutely impossible to place an image in the right location. When I first opened it after uploading this photo I thought what I saw wasn't even my city. Setting it to the second viewing option ("Hybrid") helped enormously.
