A remarkable survivor on the NEC car park shuttle services, this Dart is rapidly approaching 20 years old!!
As we'd parked in the East car park zone, we made use of this bus after the show, which was a first for me, I've never sampled a dual door Dart before!!
2012 passes the outdoor exhibitions for Euro Bus Expo 22 whilst on East Car Park shuttles.

AND THEY'RE OFF!! Day 1 at Royal Ascot today (Tuesday 17th June 2025) and I popped over to see what was occurring. It's a local event for me so I went over to suss it all out ahead of the big one - Ladies Day on Thursday, which is always the busiest day for coaches (followed by Saturday). So although today was one of the quieter days of the 5-day festival, a respectable 60 coaches turned up. And the weather was gorgeous!

Here’s the same location at Chilwell Olympia again, just stood at the roadside rather than on the bridge. On this occasion I’d gone for the CT4N Omnidekka again and missed it, but as a consolation I got a Levante in Skills livery, which I’d only previously seen as a National Express.

The intention of the day wasn’t to go finding different coaches belonging to Skills, yet I came away with three! They were all different types and all different colours too; when I was at the A52 in Bramcote executive black liveried SIL 7948 came by, apparently off to the Cavern Club, Liverpool and Mersey Ferry?!

Mark’s pipetting skills are through the roof! Well not literally. It’s crazy how being an astronaut makes you learn and do so many different things. Mark was working on NASA's Celestial immunity experiment, that requires astronauts to be adept at the laboratory skills... in microgravity! The experiment designers do everything they can to make it as easy as possible as we are not experienced lab workers, but we do what is required, and this is why we spend so much time training for our flights.
Les compétences de Mark avec une pipette sont impressionnantes. Je suis toujours étonné de voir la quantité de choses qu'on apprend à faire quand on devient astronaute : de nouvelles langues, de la mécanique, des techniques de laboratoire, comment utiliser un appareil photo, à piloter des vaisseaux spatiaux, à lancer des nanosatellites... mais ça explique pourquoi notre formation est si longue !

Back to June 2019 and Royal Ascot week which saw many visiting coaches including Skills of Nottingham Scania K360IB4 / Irizar Century C51FT YN15ENC.

FA Cup semi-final weekend (April 26th/27th 2025) saw Aston Villa play Crystal Palace on the Saturday with a late kick-off time of 17:15. A long drawn out day saw around 120 visiting coaches pass us, the vast majority from the Birmingham area.
The following day saw Nottingham Forest play Manchester City. It was a much better day for content, colour, and quality shots. All in all around 150 coaches made the journey south. Hats off to the many cheerful Forest fans!!
In late September, a friend and I went to the New Forest for a photography weekend. I must admit I got a bit “snap happy” and pressed the shutter button far too many times. I’ve only just got round to sorting out the plethora photos. Next time I will have to remember that good while photographers may own large SD cards, they rarely fill them. Better in-camera skill and critique = less crap to delete later.
On this particular morning, we were unsure about where to go to catch the sunrise. Heavy cloud was moving in and threatened to spoil the moment. Luckily, as we were driving to a potential location we found some open ground with the iconic New Forest ponies grazing in the heather. This would do!
Equipment: Nikon D7000, Nikkor 70-300mm @140mm. ISO 800, F6.3, 1/800sec & 1/50sec. Handheld.
Post-production: This is a manual blend of two exposure bracketed photos, 4 EV apart, to try and catch detail in both the sky and foreground. Both images were brought into Photoshop, staked, aligned and cropped. Separate s-curves were used on both images to fine-tune contrast and exposure, and then masked to blend them together.
