Owl Sketch-
Been wanting to do an owl sketch forever but just haven't got around to it. Owls are a particularly special creature to me as they hold great symbolism which many cultures cherish. I myself am part Cherokee Indian and the cherokees actually have legends about owls and associate them with the spirit world. Freemasons too hold this creature in very high respect as it symbolizes secret knowledge, wisdom & illumination. I used my own dreamcatcher as a reference as well & incorporated it into this piece to give it more value.
I'm not sure if most know this, but the owl because of it's importance, was actually put on the 1$ dollar bill by freemasons. The meaning of the owl varies but it has connections with the Mythos of Molech and many other pagan and ancient gods....from my understanding anyway, thus far. That is a very condensed version of my thoughts on it, I don't want to write and post an essay lol
I used ballpoint pen( for the 1st time) Also pastels and woodless color pencils, graphite & charcoal on mixed media sketching paper 11x14
Time: 3hrs

This year, I created a series of illustrations for a static theme downloadable for PlayStation3 and PSP called Beyond Reality. Here you can have a look at my sketches.
One of the things I really love about sketches in general is the way they – by necessity of time, circumstance, and place – seem to become a sort of shorthand for much more complex ideas and details. I’ve always appreciated the brevity some artists have, the way they can coerce a single line into speaking volumes, into communicating so much. Very occasionally I’ll see a hint of that evident in one of my sketches, but more frequently than not they’re just amused scribblings of the moment.
I know I'm boring. Just a few more quick drawings of one of my cats good practice for getting things down quickly.
Rudolf Steiner - Goetheanum, Dornach. Another Einstein-Tower-esque timed sketchercise, less successful in my case.
Trying to learn how to shade my Zentangles. If you have pointers or tips, please feel free to share them with me. (The shading looks a lot darker in my sketch pad than it does in this scan.)

Inspired by a sketch I saw in a Dunhill catalog, I did a quick sketch and changed it a bit to show someone shooting with a TLR :)
