Moleskin Sketchbook (A5)

Yesterday Jon mentioned his sketchbook. Here are mine. I hardly sketch in the one top (A5 Notepad) because I'm afraid to mess up the beautiful pages. Here I was about to... but my mechanical pencil refused to cooperate. The blue one is a new one (bought in the US). The yellow one is already messed up but I use it also to write down ideas. Only the little one on top is frequently used (it's a cheap one :o) and the cover is already messed up. So it doesn't matter if I mess up :o)

ILU is a sketchbook drawn completely with the left hand in the city of Buenos Aires, 2017.

These sketchbooks are refreshing to see. They have depth and interest, which is a great reflection on your creative ability and and curiosity. This kind of design development is essential in creating unique and innovative solutions for your client. Amazing work.

One of the advantages I find in having a Flickr photostream is that I can organize and compare old work with new. It helps to evaluate new work and find new direction.

None of this sketchbook was painted to be seen, and so has a fresh and lively look made without any inhibition.

Here's a quick charcoal, pastel, and card stock study. Since I did this one in my sketchbook I had to keep it flat. No reference pic used, straight from the brain creation on this one. I did a few of these of studies, while it's great to get ideas for textures, shapes, and motion, it takes the paint and 3D aspect to make these pieces feel whole.

Threw my chance into the Polaroid lego ideas challenge earlier. Didn’t win, but made something very personal to me! My description for the contest went as followed:

If I had a Polaroid camera, I would take photos to reference when sketching in my sketchbook! I love drawing ships and old forms of transportation, so my Lego Polaroids show a ship pulling into port as if I was there to capture the moment. When creating them, I took inspiration from the modern day maritime museum when I saw tall ships manned by volunteers coming back from the sea. You can even see a modern day city behind the ships captured on my Lego Polaroid as if the same volunteers are sailing this Lego ship. I've stitched the Polaroids into my Lego sketchbook next to sketches of the ship, made with my trusty Lego writing utensils. Good Luck to everyone in the contest!

Sketch of Edinburgh Old Town made entirely with left hand, which is quite unusual for me. Apparently my watercolours are much better painted with the hand I cannot control too much.

This pretty much sums up how I feel about the current sketchbook, and about drawing in it. Since coming home I haven't felt very inspired. I'm quite pleased with this page, though.
