Members of the 817th Sapper Company create a monkey bridge as part of the units first Sapper Stakes Competition at Pipestem Lake, near Jamestown, ND, on July 14th, 2012.
I knew all my circus pictures would draw controversy. I almost always choose to say nothing to defend myself because I did not join Flickr to have "word wars" with people. But I did put this response below one of my first pictures I posted, and even what I'm saying now is too many words.
It was amazing to see all the acrobats and performers. It was neat to see the animal acts too, although I have to say I am struggling with the whole "animal rights" part of it. It was kind of sad to see them be "controlled" and do things they aren't naturally meant to do. I even had a dream that night after we came home about finding all kinds of animals like ferrets and cats and dogs just coming out of nowhere and I was trying to figure out what to do with them.
Members of the 817th Sapper Company use Zodiak boats to cross the Pipestem Lake outside of Jamestown, ND. After crossing the lake the Soldiers have more tasks to complete as part of their competition. This was part of the unit's first Sapper Stakes Competition on July 14th, 2012.

Today, I am celebrating "ME". I finished a month of Operation Bootcamp! I feel awesome, Im down 2 sizes and I have actually discovered sleep. Today I am HIGH on life - well higher than normal, and Im celebrating my joy, my accomplishments and yes my pain. I have an injured glute and hamstring thanks to some wonderful Sprints we had to do. I have done countless pushups, situps, dips and lunges. I have rolled around in the grass and mud and freezing rain, and I have run more miles than I ever thought possible. A huge shout out to Robert aka WANANGA - whom I roped into this whole ordeal, and who today, is celebrating with me. He too kicked some major bootcamp ass. :) HOOAH!!!!! Charles Allen Squadron will never be the same ;))
