Unlike the more complex Dahlia flowers, which have little to offer bees and other pollinators, the single flowered dahlias are perfect for pollinators. With fewer petals bees, butterflies and other insects have easy access to the flowers pollen and nectar. This one seems to have attracted a fly which I didn’t notice when I took the shot.
Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.
diesen baum habe ich jetzt schon öfter fotografiert, er steht ja entlang der zugstrecke nach winterthur, wo ich öfters hinfahre.
a MUST in Large On Black or see all the serie as a slideshow
it's not the first time I do fotography this tree, I see him all the time when I take the train to the next city, today the clouds were specially dramatic...
An autumn/winter leaf, still hanging on. Summer is approaching rapidly over here.
Have a good weekend, everyone! 🌻
As Cal was walking behind the Aston Martin DB9, he couldn't help but glance at the sunset catching the classic lines of the old DB5 parked alongside. He briefly got so excited, he even reached for the gun which has made a sudden appearance in his holster! Clearly he watches too many movies!

Not quite a forced perspective, but let's just call it model photography, featuring the 1/18th scale die-cast Aston Martin DB9, and the wonderful Aston Martin DB5, and of course, Cal - my new model employee! Background is a sunset from Big Hill in Stawell, Victoria.
This is technically a single shot, and no photoshop was used or harmed in the production of this image or to insert the background (apart from minor tweaks to overall brightness)!
These guys are frequently seen during the cooler months of the year, like now. I was amazed yesterday when I went up in the woods, they were everywhere. I like taking photos of these guys but not when the forest floor is covered. They like Mossy areas which adds some degree of difficulty. Moss in my area usually grows over downed branches/trees. This was a 20 image stack taken with a higher ISO due to the ambient lighting. Perfect for the Dragan Effect (contrast)!
Experimenting with very shallow depth-of-field macro with the Revuenon 55mm f/1.2 and Marumi achromat.
Viola odorata white flowering form at Malshanger, Hampshire. Along the lanes and around the format Malshanger this form is seen in the hedgerows. Strange a white flower should have the name 'violet'. www.plantlife.org.uk/things_to_do/grow_wild/?ent=266

This young vineleaf is growing on the house wall right outside my window.
The early morning sun was hitting it so strongly I first thought these shots might
not turn out. The brick wall in the back let it look rather pale so I changed my angle
until I had the red downspout behind. It is then when I thought... wow, great reds!
Here are two of the shootings.
Single Form, by Barbara Hepworth.
This sculpture stands in Battersea Park London, on the South shore of the lake, and is a smaller version of the one that stands at the United Nations in New York.
The first cast was made in 1963, and was displayed in an open air sculpture exhibition in Battersea Park.
In October that year, It was was shipped to America. It was donated to the Johns Hopkins University, and displayed in Washington D.C.
A second cast was also made in 1963, and was bought by the London County Council and installed at Battersea Park. (pictured here)
Hepworth doubled the size for a casting that would become the largest bronze artwork ever cast at Morris Singer's London foundry.
It was commissioned for the United Nations building, and was erected in New York in May 1964. This bigger version weighs 5.5 tonnes, and stands 6.4m high.
It has now stood at the United Nations for 60 years.

One of the more recent buses entering preservation is this ex-training London United DPS. It looks smart here displaying blinds for route 285 which was converted to double deck operation in 2015.
After the token for the single line section from Headbolt Lane has been surrendered to the onlooking Rainford Junction signalman 66099 'Glory to Ukraine' eases its heavy train, 6E26 1052 Knowsley Freight Terminal to Wilton EFW Terminal loaded binliner, away towards Wigan. The late June heatwave was taking effect here on this very hot and humid day.
A few weeks back I spotted some poppies in a small patch , I thought I would have a closer look on my way to work Yesterday . So after negotiating a barbed wire fence I found they were very few and a bit far from the edge of the field, My old 90 - 300 mm lens is a bit long in the tooth now and I don`t really think what I got with it very good, but i`m yet to try editing those shots, but I did find one or two close to me and in this case really happy with what I got , Hope you like it my shot of the day I think.
