QJ 7007 approaching Lindong with a westbound freight on the Jitong Railway. Although this line is best known for its double-headed trains, the Chabuga to Lindong section with its easier grades would regularly see single locomotives on some workings.

This is an exposure made with a tiny retro TLR CHUZHAO Camera. This shot used the full color “filter.” The focus mode was automatic. The 12 Mp sensor did a creditable job capturing the subject. One has to remember that this is a tiny camera. Hand held indoors with light from outside.
This photo has had a fair amount of post shot editing. I do the same with iPhone and other camera photos. I took several shots to get this single good one. This is as close as possible to still achieve focus with this little TLR.
Bures station, Bures Hamlet, Essex
Bures, the main village and named Bures St Mary in full, is on the other side of the Stour, and thus in Suffolk. But the station is a few hundred yards on the other side of the river in Bures Hamlet, and thus in Essex. There is also Mount Bures for the outer suburbs. All in all, a lovely village.
The station is one of two stops between Sudbury and Marks Tey on the branch line which leads down to the main line running from Norwich and Ipswich towards London. The other is the atmospheric Chappel And Wakes Colne station.
Before 1967, this was the Colchester to Cambridge line, with a junction at Long Melford that would take you on to Thetford, Swaffham and Fakenham. Dual, in those days of course. All gone now.

Class 122 single railcar 55006 in between turns at Penzance on 10th May 1988.
The unit is preserved and is based at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway where it has been repainted in original green livery. The 122s were built for BR by the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company in 1958.

Something a little different. The Dunbar lifeboat escorts the fishing vessel, "Incentive", with an over heated engine through the TINY harbour entrance. This was a wickedly cold day in early March 2006. The temperature was 1 degree, there was snow everywhere - at this stage Aberdeen was cut off by drifts, and it was blowing a good NE 6-7 all the way from the arctic...bbbrrrrrr!! The engine on this fishing boat had overheated and she had been left drifting just to the south of this in big seas. The lifeboat towed her back to here but this entrance is too narrow for a safe tow so the fishing boat fired up her engine for a quick blast through. The engine was so dicey that they reconnected the tow immediately on passing through to safely dock her.
