At Crown Point high above the town stands Burnley’s panopticon the ‘Singing-Ringing Tree’ – a unique musical sculpture in the form of a tree bending against the wind, designed by award-winning architects Tonkin-Liu. As the wind blows it produces a low and mellow hum through pipes which are tuned so that they do not disturb the wildlife.

Recorded at the Blue Lagoon on Friday evening. Having never seen or heard one of these in the wild before, I couldn't resist the opportunity to go down there to see if I could find it. After waiting for about half an hour around where it had been heard by other visitors recently, it started singing from the bushes nearby.
It was doing that for quite some time and was very easy to hear above all the other birds singing nearby including reed warblers and willow warblers which can also be heard in these two clips. Didn't manage to spot it while it was singing but did see it as it flew from one bush to another at one point. Even though I didn't get a good view of it, I was happy just to get some recordings of it :-)
