A closer in picture of a little bird singing away on a post at Wallasey Golf Club / North Wirral Coastal Park. I wasn't really sure what bird it was, I thought Pipit or maybe Corn Bunting, but it has been identified as a Skylark.

Info from British Garden Birds: The Skylark population has plummeted, consequently, it is on the RED LIST as a bird of high conservation concern.

The decline is most likely caused by the move to winter sowing of cereals, which deters late-season nesting attempts and may reduce winter survival because there is less stubble, such as barley and wheat, and also the use of pesticides, which kills the insects needed to feed the young. Some farms are now leaving areas of bare unsown patches in their fields to help Skylarks find food to feed their young.

No, i've not lost it......the ice, as it cracked, made a sort of "tinkeling" sound that reverberated around the valley.

I thought I had picked the wrong day to visit this iconic structure as the clouds gathered in and the wind picked up but I am pleased with the result.

The ‘Singing Ringing Tree’is an iconic modern sculpture resembling a windblown hawthorne tree, something walkers in the Penines will be very familiar with.

The Ringing Singing Tree at Crown Point, Burnley, taken on a very dark, windy and cold night. This isn't far off how the camera saw it with the white balance. Used a torch to light the tree whilst taking a 30 sec exposure.

My friend Janet Towbin asked me to see what I looked like as a singing cowboy because of my comment on her photo today. I drew the line at audio to match.

My comment to her was

"It is my recurring nightmare that after I die, I might be reincarnated as a singing cowboy."

Her original photo is below in comments along with my real response to her challenge.

Thanks Janet. Love your work.

Today on my trip to my local Disney Store I spotted the new Singing Dolls Collection

The rest of the collection should be available online beginning July 7

The Singing Ringing Tree is part of the Panopticons arts and regeneration project across East Lancashire.

Designed by architects Tonkin Liu, it is a musical sculpture made of galvanised steel. Located on Crown Point in the Pennines, the sculpture overlooks the town of Burnley.

Burnley's Panopticon, 'Singing Ringing Tree', is a unique musical sculpture which overlooks Burnley from its position high above the town on Crown Point.

Constructed from pipes of galvanised steel stacked in layers, this Panopticon takes the form of a tree bending to the winds and harnesses the energy of those winds to produce a low, tuneful song. In June 2007, Singing Ringing Tree was named winner of a National Award for architectural excellence by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

'Singing Ringing Tree' is close to the Dunnockshaw Millennium Wood, part of the Forest of Burnley reforestation programme, and links to the Pennine Bridleway and local walking routes. Many native tree and bird species are to be observed.

The site offers a spectacular panorama of East Lancashire: to the north, a wonderful view of Pendle Hill; to the east, a glimpse of the Cliviger wind turbines on the Yorkshire border; and in between, a panoramic overview of the town of Burnley, with the famous Turf Moor football stadium at its centre. On a clear day you can see the Bowland Fells, Pendle, Ingleborough, Pen-y-ghent and Great Whernside. Design by Tonkin Liu. See www.panopticons.co.uk.
